The Rozhen Monastery is a quick drive away from Melnik and is a must-see. Once you enter the monastery yard, take a look at the vine which spreads its leaves across the whole yard (it is only and is several hundred years old). Located near the historic town of Melnik, this is the second largest monastery in Bulgaria after the Rila Monastery. With its unique carvings and stained glass windows, it is a true masterpiece of the Middle Ages.
