Sister-town Gloucester is worth a visit to walk along the waterfront, see the local specialty shops on Main Street, and enjoy excellent dining options. Spend an afternoon here, or combine with the Cape Ann Museum, harbor boat tours, or whale watching for a fun day. Gloucester has a rich history as the oldest operating fishing port in the country. It is also home to a vibrant Sicilian community.

Gloucester harbor is a historic -- codfishing, whaling -- and still attracts artists, sailors, and strollers. It's the site of St. Peter's Festival, the annual schooner race, and the famous statue of the Gloucester Fisherman on the Boulevard. While at the statue, read the names of fisherman lost at sea, including the crew from "The Perfect Storm."
