Chester Recommendations Hoole The centre of Hoole is only a 10 minute walk away. The high street is located on Faulkner Street and Charles Street. There are many independent shops, bars and places to eat. The Faulkner - Bar, gastro pub, beer garden Sticky Walnut - A real treat! Modern European restaurant, with a cosy atmosphere. The sirloin of beef is a must. Booking essential. The Little Yellow Pig - Coffee Shop and Café. Takeaway coffee or sit in. Great for Sunday brunch but get there early as there is always a queue. No booking. Short + Stout - Just a short walk to Ermine Road, Short + Stout specialise in coffee, loose leaf tea and homemade cakes. Sit in or takeaway. Hoole Food Market - Fruit and veg Deli-vert - Delicatessen Hoptons - Butcher Bricklands - Fishmonger Chatwins - Bakery Sainsbury’s Local Boots Pharmacy Co-op Alexandra Park is situated on Canadian Avenue. There are tennis courts, a bowling green and children’s play area. This is a lovely peaceful garden to relax in under the trees. Chester Chester Visitor Information Centre is located in The Town Hall, Northgate Street, CH1 2HJ Old Harkers Arms - 1, Russell Street CH3 5AL. Right on the canal and only a 15 minute walk, The Harkers has inside and outdoor seating. A friendly and vibrant pub serving local beers. A really good menu and excellent Sunday lunch. La Fattoria - 25, Lower Bridge Street CH11 RS. Family run pizzeria/restaurant. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Booking essential. Da Noi - 63, Bridge Street CH1 1NG. A Michelin recommended family owned restaurant serving high quality dishes and wine from the North West of Italy. A unique dining experience in cosy surroundings. Booking is essential. Shrub - 1 to 3, Eastgate Street CH1 1LQ. A modern café/dining in Chester’s Rows. Shrub is a plant based eatery serving coffee, light lunches and dinner either inside or on the terrace. No booking required. Porta Wine & Tapas Bar - 140, Northgate Street CH1 2HT. Relaxed and informal. Food inspired by the tapas bars of Barcelona and Madrid. No bookings taken so advisable to go early. Bean & Cole – 41, Frodsham Street CH1 3JJ. Independent coffee shop. A great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available. No booking required. These are just a few of our favourite places. There are many more bars, restaurants and cafés located on Bridge Street and Eastgate Street. Local taxi – KingKabs . Typically a cab ride from Hoole Lane to the centre of Chester is £5. November 22 – The Town Hall Square Christmas tree will prompt the light up of the entire city. Chester’s Christmas lights will adorn the streets throughout the season bringing much needed festive cheer to the city! November 22 – The suburb of Hoole will up bring the whole community together with Christmas Lights November 22 – January 23 – Chester Cathedral will also be lit up by annual Christmas Tree Festival with twinkling trees surrounding the iconic building decorated by local schools and businesses in aid of local charities The CheSTAR (tbc) will hopefully return to the shine upon the grounds of Chester Cathedral – The giant sparkling Christmas star was handcrafted especially for the city and standing 25ft high and wide with almost 19,000 twinkling lights it is quite a site to behold Friday 25 November 22 – Sunday 1 January 23 – The magical Christmas lights will shine and bring festive cheer in Bolesworth Castle’s as they launch their Christmas at Bolesworth wonderland

The Roman city of Chester is great for sightseeing, shopping and walks along the river Dee. It has everything you need from a city centre. Approximately 20 minutes away. Post code for Little Roodee car park CH1 1SL £5 all day parking
