Thames offers many attractions: visit museums and mines, walk the bush tracks, swim in the river or up the coast, dine in a diversity of restaurants/cafe's, go to the Saturday market, and ride the rail trail.

Bring the whole family, or pack up the fishing tackle and bring your boat and fishing buddies - this place has it all. Relax on one of the 2 expansive decks, listen to the birds as you enjoy the peace of the surrounding bush-clad hills. Each site is convenated by QEII National Trust who describe Mahakirau "outstanding for it's ecology and wildlife value with brown kiwi, kaka, Hochsetetter's and Archey's frogs all present". A spacious house in a bush setting, sit back and relax, take a bush walk down to the stream on the property and star gaze at night.

Self contained stand alone accommodation in quiet street, parking right outside the unit. Close to estuary, an easy 15 minute flat walk to main street. Open plan living measuring 7m x 5.3m with queen sized bed. Living area, spacious bathroom, towels and soap provided. Kitchenette has sink, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwhich maker, fridge, jug, bistro style table and chairs. Coffee, tea, milk, and sugar supplied.
