There are many independent shops, bars and places to eat. The Faulkner - Bar, gastro pub, beer garden Sticky Walnut - A real treat! Modern European restaurant, with a cosy atmosphere. The sirloin of beef is a must. Booking essential. The Little Yellow Pig - Coffee Shop and Café. Takeaway coffee or sit in. Great for Sunday brunch but get there early as there is always a queue. No booking. Short + Stout - Just a short walk to Ermine Road, Short + Stout specialise in coffee, loose leaf tea and homemade cakes. Sit in or takeaway. There are tennis courts, a bowling green and children’s play area. This is a lovely peaceful garden to relax in under the trees. Right on the canal and only a 15 minute walk, The Harkers has inside and outdoor seating. A friendly and vibrant pub serving local beers. A really good menu and excellent Sunday lunch.
