On this hike, you're in the sun for a while and then it's very green and it gets a little shaded. You do cool things like crossing the stream on a fallen tree. Then suddenly it opens up and there's a beautiful waterfall. Until the rapper The Game took me on this hike I had no idea that it existed. To know that people like him are hiking in Pasadena is incredibly cool. Pack a swimsuit—most people that visit jump in for a dip.

Nice green scenery is sort of hard to come by in LA, so if you want that, this is your trail. And you're going to get all of those Silver Lake celebrities who live on the Eastside. Lots of models and reality stars go there. I like the lake view and you get a good glimpse of the Hollywood Sign. I recommend going either when the sun comes up or is going down because the views are nicest. The trail is fenced off but opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes by sunset.

If you want star sightings with your workout, this is the spot. It’s very busy, but you’ll see familiar faces: basketball players, fledging reality stars, and much more. You can see downtown, but you don't go to Runyon for that view. You can do it in 30 minutes if you’re fast and it’s all about cardio here, an amazing way to work up a sweat. Dress to impress; put on your best Pumas!

This is one of the most relaxing and beautiful places in the Los Angeles area. The trail is 4 miles round trip, and at the start you get a view of beautiful homes in Malibu, so it’s a good time to dream some dreams and set some goals. Then it follows a stream to this seasonal waterfall that’s something like 200 feet high. It’s popular, so go on a weekday if you can. When the hike is over, treat yourself to some great local food. I like Taverna Tony. The last time I was there, I saw Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, which was pretty cool.

They say LA doesn't have a lot of history, but this trail certainly does. In the 1800s there was a hotel on top and to get there you had to take a tram to go up over 1,000 feet. Now you walk six miles and it's really pretty. At the peak there are hotel and railway ruins and huge views of the city and the mountains. I love this one. Take the Sam Merrill Trail from Lake Avenue in Altadena. I would recommend starting in the morning, that way you’ll be in the shade much of the way up.

This park is massive and there’s a million trails over there. There’s a cute little lake, too. I like to start low and work up toward Mulholland. Many films and TV shows have been shot on this location so it may look familiar. I definitely have seen some true celebs on that trail. George Clooney doesn't live too far from one of the entrances. There are short, easy strolls and then there are some side trails that take you up to good views of the city.

This Hollywood hike is short but a great kick in the butt. At the top you see the Wisdom Tree, a single tree by itself. You get a great city view and can leave a note of wisdom. I like this one because it's close but not densely populated. Like you’d expect to see Russell Brand meditating under a tree, that type of situation. For some hikes in LA it can be a pain in the ass to find parking, but not this one!

On this four-mile hike by Pacific Palisades you're exposed to ocean, city, and canyon views—it's a three-in-one scenic treat. Take the Temescal Canyon Trail in Temescal Gateway park and you'll come to a bridge over a small seasonal waterfall. Then it takes you up into Topanga State Park to the Temescal Ridge Trail, which is where the big views are. There are a couple different trail combinations you can take so bring a map.
