If you love Italian food and great wine, try this place. We used to live in Princeton, NJ and Emily worked at an Italian restaurant there for 5 years in college--this place is just as authentic. Try the chianti-braised shortribs (John's favorite) or the penne alla vodka (Emily's favorite). It's about a 15-20 minute drive from our house.

We've just discovered Eddie's Place, just down the street. It's great for breakfast (served all day!), but is also open super late for dinner. Casual, industrial ambiance and relaxed service, and good if you're on a budget.

We love these burgers! There are several locations including Dilworth (this one), Ballantyne, Huntersville, and the airport.

Southern Comfort food with a modern twist. Think fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, but all with an interesting chef's take on classic dishes. Great ambiance--very industrial interior but really comfortable at the same time. Brunch is great here but be prepared to wait. Dinner is usually less of a wait time. Portions are HUGE--we sometimes like to share dishes (when we can agree on what to order). They give you biscuits with tupelo honey and homemade jam before your meal. Delicious!

This looks far on the map, but actually the greenway entrance is only a block from our neighborhood. From there, you can walk, bike, or jog for a couple of miles down the paved (flat) greenway to McAlpine Park, or go up some of the unpaved trails (more hilly) through the woods off the greenway. It's a great place to enjoy a relaxing walk and get some fresh air.

It's a great place to enjoy a relaxing walk and get some fresh air.
Arts & Culture
Take in a classical concert at Belk Theatre. You may even see us singing in the choir, depending on when you're visiting! The Charlotte Symphony plays beautifully--comparable to the great orchestras across the country. There's also the Knight Theatre, which often features traveling Broadway shows as well as local productions.

We love the outdoor biergarten here--in the summer, they often have live music and other events such as yoga classes, and in the winter they have a beautiful and fun Christmas Market. Family friendly and be prepared to see lots of cute dogs!
