Sabiang is a great new place in Avalon and about a fifteen minute stroll down the hill. The service is spot on and the food fresh, delicious and fast. It is a good idea to book, as it gets busy. Kids are very welcome, we always book a table outside so the kids can run around.

Great for breakfast and lunch if you are feeling healthy, lots of organic food, green juices spelt bread. A fifteen min stroll.

A great French restaurant on Avalon Parade. Bookings are a must and they tend to have only two sittings - 6 and 8pm. The food is authentic and the service spot on, you do pay for this though. I love the pate but everything I have had has been good. We have taken our kids but really this is a spot for adults, as kids will need to be really well behaved and there is nothing for them to do.

This place is new and has a great vibe and great cocktails. It is a little on the pricey side and not a place for kids, I've had a great time here though with friends.

Great for kids and adults alike. Good burgers, good beer on tap and live music on a Sunday. I don't usually book but with the holiday season you probably should. Outside is definitely the best and the kids all have a ball running around.

Perfect for all the yummy, expensive treats you want for Christmas. All things French, this shop has the best cheeses and the wines are divine. You can also order online with Bundlfresh, the products are limited with the online ordering.

Perfect cocktails, fancy tacos and the perfect spot to watch Avalon walk by. This is not a kid friendly venue but popular with the hipsters. Usually open pretty late.

About a ten minute walk down George St toward Pittwater is Careel Bay Marina. This is a lovely little spot to watch the world go by and grab a quiet coffee at the kiosk. You can also hire SUP boards here if you fancy a paddle.

About a twenty minute walk away or a couple of minutes drive is the Bangalley Headland walk. It is very beautiful and not very well known, so you often have it to yourself. It does involve stairs upward, but my four year old goes up there quite happily.

This one is a drive away and it takes about ten minutes. Tony at Avalon SUP is often there and this is a great spot to take a board out on some still water. If you can, give him a call first and he will meet you there.

Palm Beach will be 'packed' this time of year, or at least our version of packed, with lots of day trippers. You can either catch the bus, then you don't have to worry about a park, the bus at the end of George St will take you there or just leave here before 9.30am or after 4pm.
