Food Scene

Restaurant on the beach in “Restaurant Row." Excellent food especially fresh seafood! Lovely atmosphere, open air. It’s very popular so if you want a table with one of best views, then make a reservation. Just walk on by and pop in to make one. Pricy!

Same owner as Si Señor. Another open air restaurant if you are in the mood for a different flavor than Mexican. Fresh fish from the ocean. Pricy

Cheap and good. This Señora cooks amazing authentic Mexican food from her house and sets tables up right outside on the sidewalk. Excellent tacos:  Gringas and Gorditas are favorites. No alcohol is served but you can bring your own. To get there, walk out the back gate. Go straight down the street right in front of you. Turn left at the second block. She is a half block down on the left hand side. So inexpensive!

Amazing artisan homemade ice cream & gourmet desserts in a beautiful garden atmosphere. They also serve breakfast and lunch, and sell fresh eggs.  We are devoted to their ice cream. They close the cafe in the summer but remain open for desert and ice cream. Walk out the back gate and go down the street directly in front of you. Make your third left.  It’s on that block on the right side. Look for a white wall with an iron door into a garden.

Closed Tuesday.  Excellent rib-eye tacos and worth the trip. I also recommend the Margarita Mojito which is a margarita with mint in it. Sometimes we stop on the way in from the airport. They open at 5:30 p.m.  Very reasonable.

Parks & Nature

Take the boat out to the islands to snorkel and visit hidden beach. You can charter a boat at the boat launch from one of the vendors there. Rudy is a good Captain who we use, mention Carla Addicks. Rudy is usually standing by the boat launch or call him at 322-228-7274 to arrange. If you don’t reach him, you can find someone else at the boat launches, the surf shops or down near El Corral Restaurant. It is $2000 pesos for about 2 hours.

Entertainment & Activities

Rent boards just down the stairs on the beach. It is very affordable. Sometimes there is surfing right out front of the condo at “Stinkys." There are lots of rocks that scrape so you have to be especially careful on a low tide. Best on incoming tide and for some reason at sunset.  From our balcony, if you look to the East (left) about a mile, you can see "La Lancha," a very popular spot. You can charter a boat through the marina or at the local surf shops which are on Restaurant Row. It is about $600 pesos to take you and pick you up two hours later. You can also hire them to wait there for you if you want. If you drive, there is a trail from the highway through the jungle; you will see car
