You can see actual petroglyphs here. There are not any with color as you may see in another posting for coyote hole, those do not exist in this location, those are in JT park by the dam. This pinpoint is closer for petroglyphs than the other posting. But there are some great free ones here. When you walk in the canyon you will find a sign about the petroglyphs. Do NOT touch them, erase or walk on them. Please preserve them as history untouched for future generations to admire. When you find the sign they are to the northeast wall. The riverbed has eroded so petroglyphs are higher up. So to get started go to satellite images and find the riverbed. Walk along the riverbed starting on the corner of Altura and Alta Loma and go east. When you get to the large river bed turn right and not left. The petroglyphs are high up on the left just before the govt sign.

City/town information

A BOOMTOWN DURING THE HEYDAY of “America’s Highway” Route 66, Amboy once served travelers on the western end of the long road from Chicago to Los Angeles. When the completion of the Interstate Highway System in the second half of the 20th century made Route 66 obsolete, Amboy, like many other route boom towns, passed into desolation. One of the original residents maintained what little there was left, allowing a few Hollywood movies to be filmed there, but at the turn of the 21st century, he’d had enough and sold the entire town. Amboy then passed through different hands and was, at one point, even listed for sale on eBay. The town is currently owned by the owner of the California-based fast-food chain Juan Pollo, Albert Okura. Okura has repainted the old motel cabins with a goal to slowly re-open the town, cafe, gas station, and motel cabins. Now that the cafe and gas station known as Roy’s is up and running, Okura had new neon tubes manufactured and held a lighting ceremony for the new signage, The service station has recently started selling gas again, with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m, every day. The school, church, airport, and graveyard can still be explored by adventurous travelers who can handle the heavy heat of the Mojave Desert, and a nearby volcanic crater adds to the atmosphere. Come to town with your own water and a full tank of gas, in case Roy’s isn’t open. The only sound you might hear during a visit to this town is a train passing through and the occasional small aircraft landing on the gravel airstrip.

The Salton Sea is one of those unique parts of California history that has changed a lot in the last century. Formerly a destination for Hollywood’s elite to play at, now this park is a much more desolate and a somewhat smelly place that gets a lot fewer visitors. In that, there is a charm that makes it worth the visit, even if just for the unique art communities that thrive in this brutal desert.

The Integratron is the fusion of Art, Science and Magic The Integratron, circa 1954, is located in Landers, California, 20 miles north of Joshua Tree National Park. Its creator, George Van Tassel (1910-1978), claimed that the structure is based on the design of Moses’ Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials. This one-of-a-kind 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, all wood dome was designed to be an electrostatic generator for the purpose of rejuvenation and time travel. The location of the Integratron is an essential part of its functioning. It was built on an intersection of powerful geomagnetic forces that, when focused by the unique geometry of the building, concentrate and amplify the earth’s magnetic field. Magnetometers read a significant spike in the earth’s magnetic field in the center of the Integratron. The Integratron is privately owned by three sisters who have been part of the restoration and maintenance of the structure and property for more than 30 years. Their focus is to restore and preserve the structure while sharing its amazing acoustical properties with the world via the Integratron Sound Bath. This unique structure was listed in 2019 on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service.

The Integratron’s Signature Experience This is an unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection. All Sound Baths are 60-minute sonic healing sessions that consist of: a brief introduction to the Integratron and its history and sound qualities, 35 minutes of 20 quartz crystal singing bowls played live, and the balance of the hour to integrate the sound and relax in the sound chamber to ambient music. You will be resting comfortably in the deeply resonant, multi-wave sound chamber while a sequence of quartz crystal singing bowls are played. Each bowl is keyed to the energy centers or chakras of the body, where sound is nutrition for the nervous system. The results are waves of peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation of the mind and body.
