Possibly Macedonia's most photographed place. Small church on a cliff with an astonishing view during the day, breathtaking sunsets and calming atmosphere during night. The views of the lake from here are outstanding, and if you want to find a peaceful place to just hangout and relax, this is it.

One of my favorite places to walk when I want peace. It is accesible on foot, or by boat. There is a pathway that starts near the UPPER GATE (distance from the apartment - 1km or 16 minutes on foot) and goes to KANEO. Surrounded by beautiful nature with an astonishing view of the Lake, you can have a picnic here or just watch the sunset and enjoy in the peacefull atmosphere. Also, at the middle of the pathway, there is another pathway that goes to the Labino Beach, small but clean beach, usually with more locals than tourists sunbathing and swimming in the Lake.

The Samoil`s Fortress is mentioned in descriptions in the chronicles dating from 476. Today's Samoil`s fortress relates to the name of Tzar Samoil, who probably extended and built the fortress when he chose it for seat of his Macedonian medieval state. Samoil's Fortress is the most monumental construction from this period. The fortress today has 18 towers and 4 gates. The central part of the fortress has wall 10 - 16 meters high and it has strong defensive towers, followed by ramparts in direction of the lake. In the second courtyard there are ancient graves, remains of a round tower and a cistern. Today the Samoil`s fortress is a major tourist attraction and was renovated in 2003. According to recent excavations by Macedonian archaeologists, it was alleged that this fortress was built on the place of an earlier fortification, dated to 4th century BC, which was probably built by king Phillip 2nd of Macedon. It offers great views over the lake and Ohrid.

Ancient theatre in the old part of Ohrid. Free entrance. Today it's a place for concerts of famous stars, in the past - place for gladiator battles. Worth visiting!

Totally recommended. The Bay of the Bones at the Ohrid Lake represents an attractive museum complex named Museum on Water, which includes a number of components: the reconstructed lake-dwelling, positioned on a wooden platform supported by wooden piles embedded into the lake floor; a Roman castrum, which is conserved, restored and presented at the highest plateau of the Gradishte hill; an accessible rustic stone structure with underwater show-cases as well as a rustic structure for underwater tourism. How to get there: You can go to The Bay of Bones with car, with taxi, with public transport van (tell the driver to stop at the Bay of Bones Museum - Muzej na voda), or by boat. There are round trips to St. Naum that make a break at the Museum so you can visit it too (price of the trip is 10 euros, the entrance in the museum is 2 euros).

Beautiful place to spend a day or half a day. Good for sightseeing and also for delicious food. In the complex, there are some souvenir shops, the beautiful church of St. Naum, the springs of Crn Drim river. Here, you can have lunch in one of the restaurants there with a charming view of the springs and of the Lake. You can also have a lunch/dinner on a floating raft. I highly recommend paying for a row boat trip around the springs. It is a special feeling to travel in near silence amongst untouched nature.

The cathedral of Ohrid. Stunning church! Fourth basilica built on this same spot (the oldest one being a roman basilica (courthouse). Present church was built in 1035 by archbishop Lav/Leon, front facade with the towers and the open galleries was built in 1317 by archbishop Gregory. The side porch was added when the church was turned into a mosque by the Turks. Inside is the biggest composition of 11th century frescoes preserved in the world. Nice place to visit while walking throw the old city. Hard to miss it. Also, behing the church, if you head towards the Lake you'll see a wooden bridge that can bring you to Potpes Beach and beautiful cafes/restaurants on the lakeside there.
