Epanomi has a long, historic path as it is the second oldest establishment in Macedonia (Greece) after Angelochori (as archaeologist Theocharis Pazaras indicated with his work) since the area of Epanomi has been inhabited since the neolithic period.[citation needed] The town circulates its economy on tourism and farming, as it is well known among Greeks for its coasts and organized beautiful beaches (awarded annually the blue flag) easily approached from Thessaloniki. It is also known and visited for its tradition in good wine and tsipouro (a strong distilled alcoholic beverage made by fermentation of grape pomace).

Chalkidiki has been a popular summer tourist destination since the late 1950s when people from Thessaloniki started spending their summer holidays in the coastal villages. In the beginning tourists rented rooms in the houses of locals. By the 1960s, tourists from Austria and Germany started to visit Chalkidiki more frequently. Since the start of the big tourist boom in the 1970s, the whole region has been captured by tourism.[7] In the region there is a golf course, with plans for four others in the future.

eating and nightlife in Thessaloniki. Ladadika is one of the most popular areas in the city of Thessaloniki. In fact the locals call it "the heart of entertainment" . The area is next to the port of the city, in the historic center. Its name was taken from the Greek word oil because in the past there were many shops trading olive oil here.
