Galata was used to be the center of social life and trade in the old times and was the melting pot for Armenians, Greek and Turks. Most of the buildings date back more than 100 years. It’s a touristic area where you can visit Galata Tower and buy souvenirs and trendy stuff.

Karakoy is an old neighborhood with the trendiest bars, cafes and restaurants. All of the space is converted from hardware stores, barbers and workshops only couple of years. A nice neighborhood both for day and night. When you leave the apartment, turn left, go until the end turn right up to the tower and turn left again. Walk all the way down to seaside and you reach Karakoy and also the trams crossing over the Galata Bridge for Eminonu (big mosque and spice bazaar), Sultanahmet and Cemberlitas (stop for Grand Bazaar)

(You can also take the ferries to Asia side and islands from Kabatas, the last stop on the tram) Eminonu is the place to feel the another soul of Istanbul with its blended crowd and shopping atmosphere. Spice baazar (aka Egyptian or Gypsy Bazaar) and Tahtakale is to taste the traditional shopping and Sulemaniye cami is for some magnificent Ottoman imperial architecture.
Walk a few minutes after Eminonu ur take the tram you reach Sultanahmet , the center of Istanbul’s history with Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Istanbul Archeological Musems, the Blue Mosque and Grand Baazar in Cemberlitas (all are must to sees). The famous Cemberlitas Hamam and Cagaloglu Hamam are also in this area.

One of the oldest settlement on Asian side is Uskudar with its Maiden’s Tower and two great works of the great Architect Sinan: Cinili Cami and Mihrimah Cami. It’s a different experience to see Uskudar, maybe not for everybody !

Another hour by bus to the cable cars of the Uludag Mountain, an isolated place on 2000m hight with wooden cabinets and number of hotels and resorts where people can experience camping and skiing.
