Food Scene

This is a wonderful little neighborhood bar and eatery that is frequented by locals. We often see families here, though the seating area is limited and the bar takes up a good amount of the space.

Parks & Nature

This Seattle treasure is a 20 acre Japanese garden that was originally started in 1927 by a Japanese emigrant who later donated the park to the city. The garden is open to the public every day during daylight hours all year round. It features bamboo groves, koi ponds, and more. It is frequented by garden clubs, school groups, photographers, bridal parties, and tourists.

Essentials

Fred Meyer is the closest full-service grocery store that we recommend. It has a nicely laid out grocery section with all organic and health foods consolidated into one area of the store, which is nice because it can really limit how much time and distance needs to be covered to get all the essentials. It also has a great bulk foods section and the produce is much better than Safeway’s. The store is not crowded and the lines are a lot shorter, too, and the overall shopping experience is more pleasant. We basically recommend avoiding the Safeway on Rainier.
