Food Scene

Authentic taiwanese restaurant with a simple but delicious menu. It's somewhere between the feel of a cafe and restaurant. Very fair prices. They have amazing fresh bubble tea, but don't leave without trying the shaved ice (mango is the best). It's amazing!

Amazing Japanese ramen, with vegetarian options. Vegans can easily substitute noodles for rice. Everything is cooked to the highest standard, with very friendly service from the servers.

It's the biggest park in Toronto, very accessible by transit or bike. Nice expansive space to get lost in. There's some nice restaurants/cafes in Roncesvalles nearby.

Home of the Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF has a lot of amazing movies screening all year long as well as great events, with a great (but expensive!) restaurant in-house.

Essentials

A Chinese grocery store in Chinatown, it may not have all foods you are used to, but it has the best prices around. It's pretty fascinating to a non-chinese to explore.
