Try the Nag's Head at the end of the village. Very friendly, and good pub food. The old Boughton Arms is now the Casa Lupo and does Thurs-Sat evening meals and Sun lunch. Good reputation.

The city centre is mostly pedestrianised, and there are some nice new shops, a Waitrose, a football club (revived) and a racecourse (also revived). Also Bulmers Cider, a magnificent Cathedral (with the Mappa Mundi), a multiscreen Cinema, decent coffee shops and the Courtyard Theatre.
