This is a worthwhile place to visit if staying in Anchorage. It is definitely a tourist destination but be smart and wear hiking boots or good sneakers if you plan on hiking the mountain. If you choose not to hike it, the drive up and parking area still offers gorgeous views of the city and inlet.

This is a worthwhile place to visit if staying in Anchorage. It is definitely a tourist destination but be smart and wear hiking boots or good sneakers if you plan on hiking the mountain. If you choose not to hike it, the drive up and parking area still offers gorgeous views of the city and inlet.
If staying in Anchorage for a while, be sure to take a 45 minute drive down the Turnagain Arm, south on the Seward Highway. Stop in Girdwood to check out the ski resort (Alyeska) and the quaint brewery and restaurants- or plan a hike on Winners Creek trail.

Highly recommend if you’d rather opt out of a long glacier tour. It’s about a 50 minute, gorgeous drive, south of anchorage on the Seward highway, and then a 45 minute boat tour. The glacier views are amazing.
