“The Park offers so much to see and do. You can take a ride, have a picnic or hike. Turk's Mountain is one of our favorite hikes. Not too long but offers a nice view as reward.”

“The views are some of the best of wineries within hours of us. Locals bring picnics, chairs & tent canopies to watch polo matches. King Family brings you wine in golf cars, it's a fun, mellow party. Plus, you can visit the polo horses in the stables.”

“Authentic French pastries and wonderful breads. If you haven’t been before, you must go and get a slice of apple galette and a cappuccino. Their brunch is excellent as well, but we prefer to just order a large box of pastries from the walk up counter. ”

Route
“If coming from I-66 out of D.C. or from I-64 From Richmond, consider picking up Skyline Drive. All along the drive you pass through Shenandoah National Park and look West across the bucolic Shenandoah Valley all the way to the Allegheny range - Those mountains you see in the distance across the Valley is where you are headed to Rawley Springs. You would exit Skyline Drive near Elton (ignore the icon on the map that is farther North) and take rt. 33 West to Rawley Springs. It's a lot slower than taking rt. 81 (speed limit 35mph) so you should leave yourself plenty of time to stop at the pullouts and take in the views.”

“Great pizza and draft beer list. Friendly service and lots of TV's to catch a game. It's a popular place so on a Friday/Saturday night you might want to have a back up in mind or just hang out at the bar while you wait. There's parking behind the building and some folks park across the street at the Tourism building and walk over too. Quick 10 minute drive.”

“This isn’t my first choice for peaches— I prefer Saunders’, but it’s more centrally located for visitors, especially as a stop on your way back to DC or RIC. It’s more of a production than the Nelson locations, but people still really enjoy it! They offer Pick Your Own strawberries seasonally, too.”

“Terrific local smoked meats (they started as a hugely popular smoked ribs and pulled pork food cart in Charlottesville on the Downtown Mall, then moved to Crozet to open a full restaurant). Terrific pulled pork and chicken... also try the baby back ribs or the brisket!”

“Despite the very casual atmosphere, the chef has won local restaurant competitions for multiple years in a row. On weekends, be there before 5pm or there will be a wait, and there's no waiting area”

Restaurant
“This is a consistent winner for great chefs and legit food. It's as basic as 2 rooms with tables and a bar at front. No decor theme or recent renovations. It's a little more $ but the free homemade bread and thought out menu keep the reputation year after year. Closed M/T/ (possibly W:-) ”

“Great spot for dinner or a cocktail. Servers are professional and the food is great. Try the cheese fondue. The black bean burger is great too and when they have German food on the ever-changing menu it is always terrific. ”
