My son and I stayed at Williams cabin on the river and absolutely loved it. We had such a wonderful time waking up in the morning to the sounds of the river and the trains. Quaint cabin with elevated views of the mountains. The large deck overlooking the river is where we ate all of our meals. William communicated with me and gave me all the details we needed for our stay. We are already planning another stay here for next year!

Our family came from three different states to attend a funeral. This was a perfect house for us to use as a gathering place, allowing us a common space to share and private bedrooms. The furnishings are modern and up to date appliances. It was clean. The beds were comfortable. We hope to return for a happier occasion soon.

Adriana was such a great host. Very fast communication and was flexible with our schedule. Her house was located about 30 mins from Virginia Tech. The house was so beautiful and clean. Definitely recommend!

The house is adorable inside. Extremely clean and well-decorated. Fresh flowers everywhere, plenty of thick towels and even hand-made chocolates on the pillows. The outside of the house could use painting and updates to improve the curb appeal. The trains were LOUD but it would not keep me from coming back. The restaurant next door is excellent. The staff was friendly and professional and the food was wonderful for a reasonable price! Shaena was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome.

The cottage was absolutely gorgeous and better than we could have asked for. Shaena was an excellent host and the cottage was spot on as described.

Very disappointed with this cottage. Booked 2 nights and left after the first night. The cottage is old (rustic ). Not easily accessible to the main road. The house had an odor damp and musty had to keep the A/C on to circulate the air. There is a train that goes by every hour directly in the back of the house. Very noisy there were earplugs provided I am assuming it was for the noise but if I am renting a place to relax that is not what I am looking for. Bugs throughout the house. Not a good value for the money I paid very disappointed.

Shaena gave us the warmest welcome and was a consummate host all weekend. The cottage itself is beautiful - rustic boho chic with all the amenities you need. And so many thoughtful extras like homemade chocolates on the pillows, ear plugs in case you're a light sleeper (don't worry re the trains, they actually really add to the charm and didn't keep us awake at all) and fresh flowers throughout. We ate at her restaurant next door one night and listened to the local blue grass band whilst feasting on amazing food (Her chef used to be at Little Inn at Washington) and also enjoyed the relaxed Sunday brunch before we left. Sitting on the swing on the porch drinking sundowners over the river was beautiful. And we slept like kings once we managed to climb up into the old antique beds. Truly a wonderful and relaxing weekend in Eggleston. And thoroughly recommended.

The host was great! She was super accommodating and very friendly. It was not her fault the furnace wasn't working properly, but it made our stay a bit uncomfortable. The number of trains that passed really disrupted sleep.. We were close to va tech and that made game day easy! Reataurant next door was amazing!!

I met Shaena at the cabin where she gave me the keys and walked me through the place. It is a very nice place, a perfect hide away which she has fixed up. It is on a very quiet street out in the country. I had a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, it was so comfortable and a nice warm blanket. All of the linens seemed brand new and the whole place was very clean. Best of all, even though it was in the middle of the country, it was a short walk to a wonderful restaurant, Palisades, where I enjoyed a fantastic meal. Nice to be in the country but not have to drive to (or from) dinner. I'll be back!

We picked up the keys from Shaena's restaurant next door and found the place so wonderful we ate a second dinner and had drinks. Food is spectacular and the staff was on point. Probably the best dinner out experience in a long time (and we eat out way too much). After dinner, she walked us over to the house, got us settled and was on her way. The bed is super soft and bouncy but otherwise, everything was on point. Great experience. Need to come back and spend more time exploring.

We really enjoyed our stay. Shaena was wonderful and welcoming - and was very flexible with us. It was lovely to have a fantastic meal at the Palisades Restaurant and then just walk next-door to the cottage and settle in. The interior of the cottage was 100% rustic charm and comfort. My only complaint is that the restaurant's dumpster next door was left open over night and throughout the next day, and that combined with the heat caused a powerful rotting meat smell to permeate the area - which made sitting outside on the lovely porch very unappealing.

Shaena is a great host and we loved staying in her home. We arrived at 7pm and arranged dinner for 7:30pm at her restaurant next door called the Palisades. The home was clean, comfortable and quite. I love the sound of trains and horns and hearing the train come through made me feel like home. Earplugs are included for anyone not wanting to hear the occasional train. I would recommend staying at Shaena's place especially if dining at the Palisades restaurant which is excellent. Also if you plan on visiting Virginia Tech or hiking Cascade Falls which we did, it perfectly located.

We had a very wonderful stay here. The house is charming and comfortable and dinner and brunch at Shaena's restaurant (The Pallisades) was incredible. Came for my birthday and would do it all over again exactly the same way, and hopefully will sometime soon! Thanks for everything Shaena!

House worked great and allowed us lots of space for socializing. Owners even alerted us to travel issues on I81 which was very thoughtful. Only recommendations would be to have a little more kitchenware and perhaps a washer and dryer.

Lisa and Ron were so responsive to all of our questions, and their guest house was even better than we had hoped for! It was spacious and clean, with plenty of space to cook meals in the kitchen. All the bedrooms were very comfortable, and there was certainly no shortage of bathrooms! It was only a 20 minute drive from the Virginia Tech campus, and we would absolutely come back for our next visit to Blacksburg!

Rooms even more spacious than photos relayed. Perfect location for VT games and hiking Cascade Falls. Spacious bathrooms could use a piece of furniture for more "countertop space" when shared by multiple people.

We were there to visit our Southbound through hikers on the Appalachian Trail and to give them a break from the trail for a weekend. This was the perfect location in a very quiet and peaceful area while convenient to the AT. The hikers gave us a list of criteria they wanted for a cabin that included wi-fi, a bed for each of them and a good TV. Thankfully, we met their expectations. We met Lisa & Ron upon arrival and they were very gracious host offering whatever we needed. We would definitely stay again.

This place was perfect for our Easter Weekend with my daughter. Much more room than it appears from the pictures. Very clean and comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen was great and came in very handy over the 4 days we stayed. Will definitely rent again.

My stay was very nice. Met Alec upon arrival and had a friendly conversation. He showed me where everything was. It was as described in the advertisement. All spaces were very clean. The location was 10 miles from VT and access was extremely easy. On the first night we asked for a restaurant recommendation. The place Alec suggested hit the nail on the head. Will definitely be looking to stay there again in the future.

Alex's home is a great location to get away from it all, which is a comfortable distance from Blacksburg down town and a short distance from the national/state forest hike or to practice you firing skills at the State forest gun range. We stayed one night due to our travel plans and enjoyed a very comfortable bed and a great nights sleep.

This quiet hideaway is just what I needed to stay close to family in Blacksburg but a short drive away from student life. The house is surrounded by quiet lanes and walks to historic covered bridges and is 5 minutes drive to the Poverty Creek hiking network. A great place to be close to nature and the town!

The place is extremely clean and very quiet. The house itself was gorgeous on the inside (as well as the outside) and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets and towels smelled fresh and clean. I was very impressed overall and would recommend to anyone who wants a great stay right outside of Blacksburg!

The listing descriptions was very accurate, also, the back has a great overlook deck built for a view of the big creek below. Extremely convenient to Blacksburg via highway 460 in a quiet neighborhood. Alec recommended a restaurant in near by Eggleston and it was great. We will return!

The house and the view were amazing! We really enjoyed our stay there. The house is off the beaten path enabling you to really take in the scenery. This was our first time using Airbnb and really did not know what to expect. The hosts were very kind and helpful. We could not have asked for a better experience.

We so enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday at Badgers Run. This is a great home for getting away from it all. The pictures do not do it justice! It is spacious with wonderful views and convenient to Blacksburg and VT. The animals are an added bonus: goats, chickens and Toby the most lovable house kitty.

The house is lovely and the views/location are lovely. The driveway defeated us so we had to hike up the last steep hill but that wasn't too bad. Julie's house sitter was terrific and helped transport our stuff up the last stretch of the drive. Definitely consider having 4 wheel drive if you stay here. My daughter and I had a ball looking after the goats and hens. Be prepared for the rooster to wake you up before sunrise with his crowing! We thought that was great but others might not like such an early alarm clock. The cat is a sweetie. Our dog had a ball running around. The satellite internet/tv struggled to stream on cloudy days but we weren't there to watch tv so it didn't really bother us. A very memorable experience and Julie is very helpful.

Decent home to stay in for any Virginia Tech games. Just 7 miles from stadium. View is awesome. Only space heaters in all rooms. No cable tv. There is a flat screen that we hooked our phone into to watch football games. David was a great host, good directions, easy accessibility. He does, however, need a new bed upstairs which he told me he would take care of. We would rent again for VT sport events.

Cozy place to stay. A must if you are in the area!

Buck lair cabin is the perfect place! It is well-equipped for a comfortable stay and charming. The area is beautiful and private but it is still easy to get to Blacksburg. Gerald and Ruth are perfect hosts. Easy to communicate with if needed. We will definitely be back!

The cabin was perfect. It feels like you are in the middle of the country but you are actually very close to Blacksburg. This would be a perfect place to stay while visiting Blacksburg or surrounding area. Gerald and Ruth made us feel welcome. They left us various treats including freshly baked banana bread and milk from a local dairy. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the necessary items and more. In fact, the entire cabin was well equipped with games, DVDs, towels, toiletries, firewood, comfortable chairs inside and out. Even though it was gray and rainy the entire time we were there, it was comfortable and fun in the cabin. We enjoyed celebrating Christmas with our son and his new wife at the cabin. Thank you for a lovely time!

This house is the perfect mountain getaway. It is less than a mile from the highway, but feels like you are miles from civilization. They had stocked the fridge with milk, beer and breakfast. The house is very comfortable and quiet. Sitting on the porch with the sound of the stream flowing was as relaxing as anywhere I've ever been. Only a stones throw from Blacksburg, waterfalls, Appalachain Trail and more the location is second to none.

We had a great stay at Victoria's- the place is magical- it is nested in a beautiful county side, only 15 minutes from VT- plenty of space and extremely clean- My seven year old daughter loved the horse and the animals- the house is in middle of a beautiful berg, with natural springs all around it- Victoria has a massage school and teaches massage- If I knew that earlier, I would have made time to get a massage as well as Water Shiatsu- We all had a great time- Breakfast, fresh coffee and a great tour of the house and the ground with Jesse made it very special- We will be going back for sure.
