Welcome to Chapel Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, due to the River Windrush that flows peacefully though the village, Bourton has an abundance of attractions, including Birdland, the Cotswold Motor Museum, and the Model Village. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Chapel Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, located just off Bourton’s High Street. The front door is accessed via the cottage’s front garden, and opens directly into the living room, with the following rooms on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This characterful room has exposed oak beams, stone mullion windows, and a large Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a three seater and a two seater leather sofa plus a leather pouff, as well as a pretty window seat.Other facilities include a Smart TV with Netflix access, and a DAB radio with an iPod docking station. The dining area has a lovely flagstone floor, and contains an antique wooden dining table with four chairs and a window seat, which overlooks the front garden; Kitchen: A doorway leads through to the country-style kitchen, which overlooks the garden. This well presented room has an electric oven, four ring gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a stable door out from the kitchen to the courtyard garden at the back of the cottage. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with whitewashed stone walls and oak beams, which contains a double bed, a chest of drawers with a mirror, and hooks to provide hanging space; Bedroom 2: Another stylish room, which contains a king size bed, and hooks to provide hanging space; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Further steep, winding stairs lead up to the second floor room: Snug/bedroom 3: This room is a perfect hideaway in the lovely eaves of the cottage, complete with Freeview TV and DVD player, plus a selection of DVDs, books and games. The room contains a day bed, which can be made up into a single bed. At the front of the cottage is a pretty, gravelled garden, with a stylish wrought iron table and chairs, which is ideal for making the most of the morning sun. The stable door from the kitchen opens out into the private courtyard garden at the rear of the cottage, which also has an outdoor table and chairs, and captures the late afternoon sun. The back garden has a useful outbuilding, which contains a washing machine and a tumble dryer. There is a 30-minute parking zone directly opposite the cottage, which is ideal for loading and unloading luggage, and two Pay & Display car parks are located a short walk away from the cottage.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

The Cotswold Wash House nestles in the slopes of the Windrush Valley on the edge of Great Rissington. The village has a manor, church and inn; all the charm of a bygone age. The compact cottage combines antique furniture with modern interior design. You'll find a super kingsize bed with crisp, white 800 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide a generous breakfast hamper with locally baked bread, eggs, milk, cereals, jams, coffee and tea in plentiful supply.
This is a fully converted Wash House that once served a three hundred year old house. It's made of honeyed Cotswold stone and is set in the heart of our tranquil village. Made for two! The rear windows look out onto an orchard and the front have stunning views down the Windrush Valley.
This is the Golden Mile of the Cotswolds. There are country walks from your front door; river banks and villages of honeyed stone. Popular destinations include: Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh as well as beautiful smaller villages like the Slaughters and Bibury.

Sehr empfehlenswerte Auflistung.

Summary Maisey Cottage is a charming, 200-year-old, Grade II listed Cotswold cottage, located in the tiny West Oxfordshire village of Kencot, 5 miles from Burford. It is an ideal holiday destination for up to four people, ideally two couples, sleeping across 2 double bedrooms. A beautiful old Cotswold village home, with wood burner and original features, combined with a contemporary kitchen/dining area, opening onto a covered area, family bathroom and separate shower room, plus road-side parking for 2-3 cars and a secluded garden. It is the perfect cottage and location from which to explore the Cotswolds by car, on foot or on a bicycle. Introduction As you drive into Kencot, you immediately feel the peaceful calm of this pretty Cotswold village, which extends all the way up and into Maisey Cottage. This typical, honey-coloured Cotswold stone property, with original leaded window panes, dates back at least 200 years and has been owned by the same family for over 100 years. Its high garden wall hides a delightful gravelled garden where guests can sit and enjoy the sound of birdsong, and very little else. Heading through Maisey Cottage’s wooden door into the walled garden, you’ll be impressed by the huge, overhanging Robina pseudoacacia tree and pretty border full of flowers and herbs. There’s space here to sit out and enjoy the surroundings and prepare a BBQ. (An electric car charging point in the garden is available to guests for a separate additional fee on a per night basis.) The heart of the cottage – the Central Hallway, Master Bedroom and Living Room - dates back over 200 years, while the new extension, with a fully equipped kitchen/dining area with underfloor heating, and second bedroom, was added in 2016. The Living Room has a wood burning stove and original flagstone flooring, made cosy with Persian rugs, while the bright and airy, contemporary kitchen/dining area is a delightful eating and entertaining space. Maisey Cottage has free, off-road parking for 2-3 cars. Kencot is a small, peaceful village in West Oxfordshire, at the centre of a triangle formed by Burford (5 miles), Lechlade (5 miles) and Witney (8 miles). Evidence of settlement at Kencot dates to 1086, though Bronze Age and Roman objects have been found there. The village is centred around the church, St George's, built in medieval times and widely known for its unusual 12th-century tympanum. A short drive from the Cotswold towns of Burford and Lechlade, College Farm Cottage is perfect for guests seeking open space and tranquillity, with plenty of walking routes quite literally on your doorstep.
*Dogs: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30 per dog. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog(s) and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction Low hedges, acres of flat green fields and an abundance of wildlife – these are the scenes that will greet you as you head towards College Farm Cottage. Situated on the expansive Bradwell Grove Estate, home to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, it’s hard to im-agine that you are only a few miles from Burford and Lechlade. As you make your way along the open fence-less lanes, you will almost feel as though you’re driving through the middle of the fields. Once you have arrived at the end of the farm track, you will find a delightful cottage with plenty of character – if you’re visiting in the summer months, you’ll even get to appreciate College Farm Cottage in all of its beautiful Wiste-ria–covered glory. College farm was built in 1771 by Trinity College of the University of Oxford for the use of tenant farmers as a source of additional income for the college. A working farm up until recent years, College Farm is now owned by the Bradwell Grove Estate, home to the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park that exhibits over 260 different species of ani-mals – on a quiet day you may even be able to hear the lions roaring from the cottage! Although College Farm is no longer a working farm, it is surrounded by mainly arable farmland, all of which is organic. With a strong emphasis on conservation around the estate, there is plenty of wildlife to observe, from ground nesting birds to deer. You only have to step outside of the door at College Farm Cottage and you are right in the heart of unspoilt countryside, with bridle paths and walking routes running alongside the farmyard. Inside, the cottage is a lovely mix of traditional and new. The original flagstone flooring and woodburner add a touch of rustic charm, while there’s a new JVC Smart TV for guest use. Benefitting from a bright and airy feeling throughout, the cottage is decorat-ed in neutral tones, accented by quirky pops of colour and unique pieces of art and furniture. The back door opens out into a garden, while the windows boast views of nothing but green fields and the historic farmyard buildings. If you’re looking for peace, tranquillity and open starry skies, you’ve come to the right place. Despite its rural location, College Farm Cottage is just a 5-10 minute drive from the beautiful market town of Burford, where you will find artisan boutiques, cosy cafés, and interesting pubs. Benefitting from the best of both worlds, College Farm Cottage enjoys a secluded location but is also the perfect location for exploring Burford and the wider Cotswolds. Please see the framed OS map in the sitting room where College Farm sits exactly cen-trally. In just a 5-10 minute drive you will find yourself on the High Street of Burford, a stunning medieval market town with plenty to offer. The excellent Co-operative su-permarket on the High Street stocks all immediate shopping requirements and is open 7am – 10pm every day of the week. There is also a Co-operative supermarket in Lech-lade, a 5-10 minute drive in the opposite direction to Burford, open 8am-8pm every day. There are some great cafés in Burford. Head towards the historic church and you will discover the newly built Warwick Hall and café, ideal for a morning coffee and snacks. Another good spot for a reviving cup of coffee or tea is Lynwood & Co on the High Street, where you can also buy delicious local artisan-made Sourdough bread and of course the famous Huffkins tea shop. If you find yourself parking in the main car park for Burford near the church (free parking) you will cross the mill-race connecting to the charming River Windrush that meanders through the Cotswolds, a lovely spot to feed the ducks and swans! Burford used to be a major coaching town between London and the West Country and was home to 35 coaching inns! The town still retains 13 pubs, of which some favour-ites are The Angel, a very good gastropub, The Highway and The Lamb on Sheep Street. There’s also a great variety of specialist shops to explore – including Maggie White and the fascinating Tolsey Museum. Alternatively, The Victoria in Eastleach, a very pretty Cotswold village nearby, is about an hour walk from the cottage and is a wonderful pub with good food, recommended by Emma and William. Also highly recommended - The Five Alls in Filkins and The Bell in Langford, both excellent pubs. All are popular so booking is essential. Around 5 miles south of the cottage, you will find Lechlade-on-Thames, a small historic town on the Thames, from which London could be reached by boat. With plenty of walks, a thriving market square, pubs, cafes and antique shops, Lechlade is slightly off the beaten tourist track compared to Burford and makes for a great day out. Here you will find a fantastic butcher, Cutler & Bayliss, selling high quality meat, cheese, fresh vegetables and bread as well as another Lynwood & Co café. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, the beautiful ancient Roman market town of Cirencester is about 10 miles south and also there’s Witney which is an easy 11-mile drive east towards Oxford. Like Cirencester it has a great array of high street shops, larger supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, eateries and a modern cinema complex. Also, around 15 miles away is the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham, a farm complex that offers a farm shop, restaurant, spa as well as other activities such as farm tours and cooking courses. See the Burford Guidebook for further information.

  • Fantastisches Ferienhaus in perfekter Lage.

Causeway Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed property which sleeps six guests, in three well presented bedrooms, with two bathrooms. Dating back to the mid-17th century, the property has an abundance of character features including exposed wooden beams, a stone mullion window, terracotta tiling in the kitchen and two inglenook fireplaces, one of which has a wood burning stove. To complement these traditional features, the property has been finished in a contemporary style with the addition of modern facilities such as wireless internet access, a Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen. Built from original Cotswold stone, Causeway Cottage has a beautiful exterior to match its interior, with a wonderful wisteria trailing across the porch and living room windows, and dormer windows on the first floor which offer lovely views across the garden. The enchanting garden is an excellent spot to socialise with friends and family in the warmer months and there is off-street parking for up to three cars on the gravel driveway. Causeway Cottage is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Old Minster Lovell, an unspoilt village with a mixture of attractive thatched and Cotswold stone cottages. The village benefits from a well-regarded pub, the Old Swan, which prides itself on its use of local ingredients, and the 12th century parish church of St Kenelm is just a short walk away from the cottage. Alongside the church lie the extensive ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, a former 15th century manor house which is now a Grade 1 listed building maintained by English Heritage. Old Minster Lovell is also home to Minster Mill, a luxury hotel with a spa and restaurant which members of the public can utilise by appointment only. The larger residential settlement of New Minster is just a ten minute walk away, with another popular pub and a local shop. Located within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many local walks and cycle trails to explore, including those along the River Windrush which flows through the village itself. Old Minster Lovell is well placed for visiting many of the charming towns and villages of the Cotswolds including the medieval market town of Burford with its wide range of eateries, and the scenic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” due to the many arching bridges which cross over the River Windrush. The popular tourist destinations of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, Cirencester and Oxford are within easy reach for day trips. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!

Directly outside the kitchen there is a paved patio area with an outdoor table with seating for six, as well as two comfy chairs looking out over the lawn. The patio is bordered by a low dry-stone wall, which itself is bordered by fragrant lavender, and in the late spring the gorgeous wisteria and climbing flowers add splashes of colour to the Cotswold stone exterior. A second patio can be found beneath the mature trees at the side of the garden and this area contains a charcoal barbecue and two sun loungers. Just off the driveway is a double garage which houses a large table tennis table and croquet set. The gravel driveway has off-street parking for up to three cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

This small village is surrounded by the stunning Cotswold countryside, with lovely walks straight from the door, whilst also being only a mile and a half away from the famous town of Bourton-on-the-Water. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The Old Farmhouse sits on the main road that runs through the heart of the quiet village of Little Rissington. There is a front door that opens onto the road, however the primary access to the cottage is now via the back door, which leads into the kitchen. The following rooms are on the ground floor of the cottage: Kitchen/breakfast room: This large, dual aspect room includes a lovely kitchen area, with a single electric oven, four ring induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and washing machine. There is also a wooden breakfast table with seating for six; Living room: Another beautiful, dual aspect room, with oak beams, stone mullion windows, and a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is comfy seating for six and a flatscreen TV, with a DVD player; Dining room: With oak beams and a stone mullion window, this room contains a formal dining table with seating for six, two comfy armchairs, and a flatscreen TV with integrated DVD player; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a hand basin. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 2: A stylish, dual aspect room, with a lovely window seat in one of the stone mullion windows, which contains a super king size bed; Bedroom 3: With oak beams and two stone mullion windows, this cosy room contains two single beds; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and a wash basin. A steep, narrow staircase, with a very low beam, leads up from the first floor to the master bedroom, which takes up the entire second floor: Master bedroom: This magnificent eaves room is framed by ancient oak beams and contains a king size bed. There is a stylish ensuite bathroom, with a free standing bath, walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin. At the rear of the cottage, just outside the back door, is a small patio terrace, which contains an outdoor table and chairs, as well as a garden bench. Next to the terrace are two off street parking spaces.

Welcome to Middle Gable The Old Hall, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Middle Gable The Old Hall is one of the most picturesque and historic properties in the Cotswolds, forming part of an original 17th century manor house, dating from the time of the English Civil War, over 350 years ago. This grade II* listed property sits in peaceful gardens, in the heart of the famous Cotswolds market town of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds". This lovely town has numerous shops, restaurants and pubs, and is ideally located for exploring the entire Cotswolds region and beyond. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Middle Gable The Old Hall is accessed via its garden, which leads to the beautiful wooden front door. Inside the house, a small entrance hall leads into: Living room: A grand room, which has been newly refurbished in a traditional style, enhancing the abundance of period features, including stone mullion windows, a large fireplace with wood-burning stove, wooden beams and a centuries old alcove. The refurbishment includes a limestone flagged floor, with underfloor heating, and the provision of a flat screen satellite TV and Blu-ray home theatre system with an iPod docking station. The living room then leads into the Inner Hall, which in turn leads to: Shower room: Contains a shower, basin and toilet; Kitchen/dining room: The kitchen is well equipped, including a cooker with hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer dryer. There is a good sized dining table, with five chairs, and the layout of the room ensures that all guests can socialise whilst cooking is in progress. Returning to the Inner Hall, a grand wooden staircase leads up to the first floor hallway, off which are: Bedroom 1: The initial highlight of the room is the spectacular super-king size four poster bed and this impressive room also has what is believed to be the original wooden flooring, stone mullion windows and the original “wig and gown” cupboard. There is a flat panel satellite TV in the room; Bathroom: Contains a bath with shower attachment, basin and toilet. The staircase then continues up into the gable of the house, giving access to: Bedroom 2: A very spacious, dual aspect eaves bedroom, with beautiful original wooden beams. The room contains three single beds, two of which can be pushed together and one of which doubles up as a sofa (it is a full size adult bed, however). Heading back downstairs and out of the front door, the lovingly cared for open plan gardens spread out in front of you. In Middle Gable The Old Hall’s garden, extending from the front of the house, there is a bench, for relaxing and looking out over all the gardens, as well as a paved seating area, which contains an outdoor table and chairs. At the end of the garden is a double garage for guest use.

I make sure there are plenty of supplies in our well equipped modern kitchenette, fluffy dressing gowns for relaxing in before going out and toiletries of exceptional quality. Our annex is minutes from Faringdon town centre for great local food and drink, a stone's throw from countryside walks and a bus ride to Oxford for culture and shopping. A warm welcome awaits you!
The accommodation is private and tranquil. Our price remains the same regardless of the time of year you visit - and there are no extra costs. It has its own entrance with a key-safe so you can come and go as you please. The kitchenette has an oven, hob, toaster, kettle, fridge, pans and everything else you might need (including, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, eggs, cereals and snacks). The large bedroom has a very comfortable, real double bed, a table to eat or work, storage space and its own ensuite (with power shower). You also have your own outside space with table and chairs, ideal for alfresco dining. The annex is part of our family home so we are usually at hand to answer questions and if not there are plenty of brochures to help you plan and discover all that Oxfordshire has to offer. We're a short drive to Bristol, Bath and Cheltenham, so ideal if you want to explore further afield. We love baking cakes in our house, so you’re very likely to get a slice or two during your stay. We look forward to meeting you!
Our 1970s detached house is on the edge of The Pines and Canada Lane in Faringdon. Behind the house is a path that, within a few seconds, takes you into the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. A few minutes in the opposite direction you'll find the town centre's friendly pubs, restaurants and shops.

  • Toller Raum, anpassungsfähig, freundlicher Gastgeber, tolle Kommunikation. Absolut perfekt ...

The Pigsty has been lovingly converted into a double en suite room with TV, internet, tea and coffee. The room opens up onto a sunny, newly paved court yard with outdoor seating for you to enjoy. The private entrance via a locked gate means you can come and go as you please. Located in central Lechlade with the river Thames, open fields, pubs, restaurants and cafes on your door step. It's a vibrant and friendly market town with plenty to do!
Built circa 1805 this property was originally a pigsty and later converted in to the wash house for the cottage built around 1850. Now it's a quirky en suite room with handmade mahogany double glazed doors and windows, under floor heating, stone sink, remote controlled lighting and extractor fan and opens up onto a sunny court yard for you to enjoy. The room itself can be used as living room, bedroom or work space with the fold out futon and table, as illustrated in the photos. Note: due to limited space, toilet has a curtain instead of a door. Pigsty is located about 4 metres from my kitchen/back door
Lechlade a very social and friendly place. The terrace row where the Pigsty is situated is a throw back to 1940s living, with close neighbours and cups of tea over the garden fence. It's charming and you'll certainly live like a local and not a tourist.
  • Toller winziger Ort.
