Das Haus und der Garten inkl. kleinem Wald! ist einfach unglaublich . Es ist einfach ein wunderbarer Ort um einfach mal herunter zufahren.Simon ist wirklich ein sehr guter Gastgeber. Ich hatte angenehme Unterhaltungen beim leckeren Frückstück und habe mich einfach wohl gefühlt. Der kleine Wald hinter dem Haus ist wirklich beneidenswert und es war einfach schön dort einen kleinen Spaziergang zu machen . Bei meinem nächsten Irland Aufenhalt werde ich dort bestimmt wieder vorbei schauen .

Clearly a superhost! Peaceful, easy to find, great town close but just far enough away. Very comfortable accommodations and very accommodating hosts! An absolute fantastic host ! We were arriving late, travelling from Dublin airport and Simon waited up to great us. Lovely private yoga session in the morning followed by a delicious breakfast. His property feels very safe, private and a beautiful setting despite the rain.. When I next venture down to towards the Ring of Kerry I will definitely be staying again.

Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit bei Ciaran und Marlena und ihren zahlreichen tierischen Mitbewohnern. Das Chalet war so wohlig warm bei unserer Ankunft, dass wir das erste mal in einem irischen Airbnb nicht gefroren haben. Ciaran hat uns eine sehr gute Wegbeschreibung gegeben, mit der wir bis vor die Haustür gefunden haben. Nach einem sehr leckeren Frühstück mit Eiern aus eigener Haltung haben sich beide noch Zeit genommen und uns ihr Anwesen gezeigt. Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal und können Ciaran und Marlena nur weiterempfehlen!

Die Unterkunft ist etwas ganz besonderes! Mithilfe von der (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps Position ist sie einfach zu finden. Das “Charlet“ ist wie ein Paradies, inmitten eines kleinen Bauernhofs. Man hat seine Privatsphäre kann aber jederzeit zu den Tieren und die Natur genießen. Ciaran ist ein perfekter Gastgeber, er macht es einem einfach sich wohl zu fühlen. Jederzeit gerne wieder!

Our host Ciaran was an absolute Gent, could'nt have done enough for us. He came to meet us and bring us straight to the door. The Chalet is amazing, you really need to see it to believe how peaceful and Tranquil it is! We even got to hold the baby ducks in the barn! The chalet is dreamy.... The stove was lighting when we arrived, the space itself is spacious, there were plenty of extra blankets (not that it was needed it was so toasty) and waking up to the chatter of ducks and geese was an unexpected treat! I would recommend this place without reservation.

This is one of the most unique awesome experiences any traveler will have. You have your own private home surrounded by ducks and wildlife. Anne was there to meet us with scones and tea ready. We quickly shared interests that revealed much in common. The house does not appear on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps yet since the footings were only started in 2010. As described, it is in the middle of a field on the family farm. It is a big house with a stunning kitchen and several rooms. Our bedroom was large and had a beautiful rural view. The area was very quiet and close to a graveyard where we were able to find gravemarkers of members of my wife's family. Anne had left a delicious, full Irish breakfast for us on the following morning since she had been called out to substitute teach. Her homemade marmalade was delicious!

Ciaran's place is a real find, well off the beaten track, in a great setting with some fantastic views over the surrounding landscape. The room itself was large, bright, and basic but comfortable.

We used Ciaran's listing as a base for Electric Picnic and could not have been happier. We never got to meet Ciaran as he was away but had to privilege of dealing with his girlfriend Marlena who was very kind and thoughtful. When we arrived at the listing Marlena greeted us and showed us around the farm which is located in a picturesque setting. The room is off the kitchen and is beautifully decorated with a large en suite bathroom. The listing is close to Ballyroan and Timahoe and a twenty-minute drive from Stradbally. We would highly recommend Ciaran's cottage especially for those looking for the perfect peaceful getaway.

Ciaran and his dog louis offered us a warm welcome. The room has a private bath next to it. The place is quite and enjoyable. Ciaran showed us his farm and the surrounding area. He's responsive and took great care of us. A great stay!

Les équipements de la salle de bain et de la chambre sont vétustes, rouillés et sales. Une forte odeur se dégage des canalisations et "embaume" la chambre. Une véritable horreur ! La chambre est certe très "bon marché" mais cela ne dédouane pas d'un minimum de propreté et surtout de respecter l'engagement promis sur les photos. Par exemple : la salle de bain n'est équipée de rien de coloré comme on peut le voir sur la photo, elle parait comme absolument pas utilée, sans décoration, sans accessoires, voire pas utilisable car tellement vétuste). Cela peut être un choix de vie austère et personnel pour Ciaran, ce que je respecte. mais de là à mentir sur les photos et nous promettre un "cottage" il y tromperie absolue. D'où viennent les précédents commentaires ? Je n'ai pas l'impression d'avoir dormi au même endroit. Je ne recommande absolument pas cette chambre même si Ciaran est un hôte sympathique il lui reste à faire des efforts pour accueillir les voyageurs.

Marc is an excellent host and was really helpful when I got a bit lost. I really appreciated the essentials and the biscuits he left out for us. The place is lovely and so peaceful. It is in the middle of the countryside with only fields and the sound of birds around you. It is very comfortable with loads of space. I really couldn't fault the accommodation or the host and I would absolutely recommend them without reservation to anyone. I will definitely be!

Gorgeous and spacious guesthouse in the Irish countryside. It was basically an entire guesthouse detached from the main house. It had a washer/dryer in garage, large kitchen, bathroom, upstairs bedroom, and upstairs sitting room. One of the nicest places I've ever stayed in my multiple trips to Europe. Finding it was a bit tricky, but the "off the beaten path" location is a big part of the charm. It is in the middle of fields of cows and sheep and the only sound at night is the wind. Quite lovely. Also, Marc was incredibly helpful and sent us a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map pin drop so we could find it when we got a bit lost. He even waited up till midnight for our arrival from Dublin. Very friendly host. We stayed there on the way to the Cliffs of Moher. It was a great halfway point. On your way back to the main highway, be sure to stop by the ruins of Aghaboe Abbey. Beautiful and just a few minutes out of the way depending on where you are headed. We would stay here again for sure!

Marc's guesthouse is definitely worth a visit! From the homely stove that was lighting upon our arrival to the the endless supply of tea bags, milk and biscuits, Marc's house has everything needed for a short getaway. The guesthouse itself is deceptively large and there is no shortage of space indoors. The place was also spotless which is a testament to Marc. The Laois countryside provides the perfect backdrop for a quiet and tranquil stay. The setting is rural so a car is vital to travel around the locality. Heywood Gardens are a 20 minute drive away and we would recommend heading there for a light stroll that oozes charm! Marc was a great host and responded promptly to any enquiries. We certainly hope to return to Marc's guesthouse at a later date!

First time using airbnb. Marc is a great host. The house is fully detached and towards the back of the land. Arrived on Friday, a little later then we had agreed to arrive at. No problem checking in, Marc was able to meet us to let us in and after that he left us to our own devices. A generous starter pack was provided in the home including milk, bread, butter and a selection of tea bags incase you have a preference (nice Irish touch). The accommodation itself is very spacious with very warm and comforting furniture to suit. The pictures don't do the house justice as we found it to be much larger in size apon viewing. Would highely recommend Marc and his home for anyone looking for a nice break away. Only 30 minutes outside of Kilkenny.

Nach unserer Ankunft haben wir bei Tara einen wunderbaren Abend verbringen dürfen, denn Tara hatte Freunde zu einem BBQ eingeladen. Wir wurden ebenfalls mit eingeladen und da das Wetter sehr angenehm war, haben wir bis Mitternacht draussen gesessen, am Tisch mit den Freunden aus Irland und England gegessen, getrunken und uns toll mit ihnen unterhalten. Es war ein unvergesslicher Abend. Vielen Dank für so viel Gestfreundschaft.

Wir haben das Haus nicht auf Anhieb gefunden. Tara war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und hätte uns auch noch abgeholt. Das Georgianische Haus ist sehr speziell und interessant und ruhig gelegen in einer grandiosen Umgebung.Gut geeignet, irische Ursprünglichkeit zu erleben.

Tara was amazing at the Georgian style house. I had an amazing room and she was a gracious host! Everything was as specified, and her dogs were absolutely wonderful to be around.

Tara made us feel very welcome - she joined us for tea sitting outside and welcomed other family members who were visiting but not staying. We were free to explore the mill and surrounding area. It was actually our first airbnb experience and I liked the informality of it. Tara has loads of recommendations for things to do/places to go/where to eat etc. And Durrow is a lovely spot!

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in beautiful countryside,. Rose's Cottage is the ideal place. Rosemary was the perfect host, helpful above and beyond with accommodating our pet cats during our stay at the cottage, and thank her for all her help during our months stay.

Rose's quaint, Irish cottage is set in a lovely setting. It was beautiful to wake up and look out the upstairs windows at the beautiful green rolling hills and mountains. The cottage is well equipped with dishes and cooking utensils which we utilized to help cut down on the cost of our travel. Though the weather was pretty cool still in February, the cottage heated up and was quite cozy and warm for relaxing in the evenings after being out exploring Ireland during the days. There are many interesting tour sights nearby which Rose was very kind to point out to us; and day trips to Dublin, Cork, Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher, Waterford, and Wickham are quite doable. Abbeyleix was our favorite close town for grocery shopping and using the library wi-fi. Their library and staff are really top-notch in Abbeyleix. All in all, I had a wonderful stay at Rose's cottage in Spink and getting to know more about Ireland.

We stayed during Electric Picnic and after initial misunderstanding around dates - booking was accepted. Rose was good with information regarding getting key etc and cottage was basic but clean and comfortable as described. Location rural and taxi drivers unfamiliar with area as came from further afield for weekend that was in it - proving a little expensive but obviously no fault of hosts

The host was friendly, but this place was not what we expected to be honest, we assumed from the photo it was one property when in fact it is actually self catering apartments attached to a restaurant. It is very nice décor with comfy beds, and looking back it did say apartment, however it is very expensive compared to other properties we have stayed in, for the cost we expected more. There was also a lack of standard items, which we found odd considering it’s part of a restaurant, only 1 wine glass and 3 forks, 2 chairs at the table, hardly adequate for 4 people. The toaster was also kept under the sink. Directions did not reveal the true location which is the Stamford Arms, it would be helpful for the host to include this information as it did take us a good 30 mins to find it after we arrived in the square.

Tucked in behind the lovely Ashbrook Arms, these apartments are high end, spacious comfort! Sean was friendly and extremely welcoming, even lighting a fire for us, we couldn't have asked for better hosts. Our two boys loved having their own room (with an en suite!) and the well-appointed kitchen made me wish we could have stayed longer and cooked some meals. The dinner at the main house restaurant was elegant and delicious and the traditional Irish breakfast in the morning fueled us up for a day of travel. The hosts were always checking in to see how we were doing, if we needed anything and they gave us lots of helpful tips for the rest of our trip. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and would highly recommend this as a base for exploring the area. We'd love to come back some day!

Laura is a wonderfully friendly host and was helpful and communicative throughout our stay. Her place is a perfect base for the local walking/hiking, and a bit under ten minutes walk to Durrow centre and the shops and bars there. We'd absolutely love to stay again next time we're in the area.

Unser Aufenthalt im Cottage verlief reibungslos. Wir wurden schnell und freundlich empfangen und dann vertrauensvoll dem Haus überlassen. Es ist etwas besonderes, in einem solchen Ambiente übernachten zu dürfen. Herrlich ruhig gelegen, mit einem wunderschönen großen Garten und einem anliegenden Wäldchen bestückt konnten wir dennoch die benachbarten Städtchen innerhalb kurzer Zeit erreichen. Das Haus selber wurde zum Teil extrem liebevoll ausgestattet. Wir heizten mit Torf aus den irischen Mooren, da es abends doch noch etwas frisch war und konnten in einer gut ausgestatteten Küche (Gasofen) unsere Mahlzeiten zubereiten. Es war ein Genuss, dort zu leben und sich, eingesunken in die kuscheligen Sofas, in die Vorstellung hineinzuträumen, wie es wohl vor einigen hunderten von Jahren in so einem Cottage womöglich zugegangen war.

This place was perfect for a few days of solitude!! It's a beautifully restored home, and the pictures are just a tiny snapshot of how sweet this cottage is. Dee's Mother, Mary was very kind in helping us check in. Sadly, we didn't get to met Dee at all, but she left such a wealth of information on surrounding attractions and local eateries, as well as facts on the house that we felt very welcome here! We only stayed for two nights, but it was such a lovely time! This was a highlight of our trip; we'd stay again and recommend to friends.

We toured the west coast for 5 days and then finally settled into the cottage for a week to complete our honeymoon. Of all the places we stayed along the way, nothing felt like home like Dee's home. Mary met us on arrival and was on hand throughout the week, which was reassuring in itself, and the house had the perfect combination of 'mod-cons' and traditional features to be comfortable and cosy. The garden was a pleasure to sit out in and the peat fire welcome for nights in. From the cottage we went for several walks in the nearby mountains, and visited Cork, Kilkenny, Athlone and Dublin on day trips, each between 1-2 hour's drive. There's plenty more from us and many others in the guestbook on the coffee table; we recommend you go and have a read! L&R

Arrived later than planned but Mary (mother of owner) was extremely accommodating. As soon as we saw the property we loved it. The old style decoration was great and made for a very cosy stay. We used the cottage as a base while attending Electric Picnic but would have loved to have spent more time there. I will definitely try and book the cottage again as it had everything we wanted. Declan the local taxi man deserves a lot of praise too as he provided an excellent service the entire weekend. All in all, a great experience. Thanks

Our host Dee gave us all the information we needed :) The directions were perfect. We were met by Mary, Dee's Mum and she was brilliant. Mary showed us around and explained how everything worked etc. there is also a black book with lots of ideas on where to go and how to get there. The cottage is bigger than the pictures look and a total gem. Dee has put in so much love and care into the property it oozes charm. The cottage's underfloor heating keeps all the rooms very warm and there is also a turf, potbellied stove which gives out more heat than you could imagine. The bed clothes and towels were excellent quality and very clean and smelt beautiful. The kitchen is very well stocked and the cooker is a joy to use. The garden and surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful. You are not overlooked and there is no passing traffic. We were there in Autumn and the Autumn colours were outstanding. It was an honour to stay in Deirdres' stunning thatched cottage with its soothing atmosphere and inspiring decoration. Its is in easy reach of so many fantastic places. Thank you so much.

Staying at Thatch cottage combines the magical experience of living in a genuine Irish cottage with modern conveniences and comfort. It's located in a charming farming community nestled away on it's own hillside surrounded by trees. The garden is lovely with rolling green grass, beautiful flowers, a serene pond to sip tea by, and a small vegetable patch. It's only an hour away from Dublin airport and centrally located making days trips in any direction easy, although we weren't always eager to leave the cottage because we enjoyed its uniqueness and serenity. Port Laoise is approximately 20 minutes away and is a convenient place to purchase groceries. Dee is an amazing host! She put together a folder of directions and information tailored to our interests and was helpful in anything we needed. Thank you, Dee!

Donna was the perfect host and her accommodation was superb. The double room was very big and having the en-suite available was a real bonus! Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bowl of sweet sin the room were a lovely treat. Breakfast in the morning was fit for a king! Everything from continental to cooked was available, something for all tastes. Perfect way to start our day. Donna herself is a great host, happy to look after any requests you might have. We would highly recommend staying here!

Donna was very flexible and welcoming. I arrived late and needed to leave very early. Donna offered to get up early (before 6am) to get me breakfast and when I told her there was no need, she got a tray of croissants, bread, fruit, jam organised. Great location for anybody who wants alternative accommodation to Castle Durrow. It's within walking distance (3-5mins) and the house was perfect for our needs (Wedding Weekend). The host was also very accommodating and a joy to deal with.

We were moved to the hotel rather than the coaching house on check-in, but we were very happy with the room. The hotel is a beautifully restored Georgian building. The room was spotless and quite large, with a beautiful sleigh bed - the shower was great too, really powerful. Would definitely come again. Thanks!
