Die Unterkunft
The house has 5 steps (one on sidewalk, 4 up to the front porch) to front door. No stairs inside; not suitable for wheelchairs.

Guest bedroom is located in a separate wing from main living area and away from Master Suite. Has its own large lighted closet with hangers, an expandable Ikea table & 2 chairs, plus a small flatscreen color TV with Roku. Newly upgraded with Gigabit Internet.

To use the TV: Use the TV remote to turn on the screen and choose a streaming service to watch. Use the Roku remote to choose what to watch. Please alert the hosts if there's any glitch.

Large front window brings in lots of light; recently updated with lined drapes to control the light as desired. Walls are lined with bookcases. Floor has large area rug over bamboo flooring. In addition to the central system, the room has ceiling fan for summer & space heater & lots of blankets for cold months. Guest iron & ironing board in closet.

Private guest bath with lots of towels and personal care toiletries plus a hair dryer solely for guest use during stay.

Zugang für Gäste
Guests have exclusive use of the guest bath down the short hall during their stay.

Shared access to kitchen, if desired. However: Other than the breakfast we provide, we expect that guests might be reheating leftovers or other short usages of the kitchen -- NOT cooking all their meals from scratch in our kitchen. Especially during the pandemic, we are limiting the use of our kitchen for safety reasons.

Any use of the kitchen other than breakfast must be scheduled with the hosts. Any cups, utensils, plates, etc. used by guests should be washed by guests using dish soap or loaded in dishwasher for sanitizing.

Guests also welcome to sit on front porch as weather permits. The porch is the only space where smoking is permitted. Please be courteous in disposing of butts.

Use of laundry room is allowed for fee of $5 per load. Please schedule around the hosts' use of the laundry and ask for instructions before using.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
Pandemic protocols: we expect all public safety protocols (masks, social distance, hand sanitizing, etc.) to be strictly followed. Masks required in all public areas of the house. During COVID, we discourage use of our kitchen other than breakfast and microwaving.

We have an elderly Corgi-Rottweiler mix (!) dog who is sweet and friendly and never barks. Our dog will not be a bother to guests, except for occasionally being underfoot. We would entertain the idea of guests bringing another dog under certain circumstances (well-behaved, not a barker, not too big, crate-trained, etc.).

Husband being a professional musician, he practices trumpet during the day, never at night. Most guests who hear it enjoy it.

Lage

New Orleans, Louisiana, Vereinigte Staaten

Gentilly Terrace was developed in the 1910-20s in the then-fashionable "California mission" style & is a coherent quiet safe historic neighborhood with great diversity & a parklike feel. Neighbors know & look out for each other. Great neighborhood restaurants, a small grocery store, & a gas station within short distance of our house. Easy access to 2 buslines that can bring guests directly to Downtown & the French Quarter. About a mile from the shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Während deines Aufenthaltes
Host couple includes 8th-generation New Orleans native well versed in the city's history & culture, who LOVES to share if asked, & a professional trumpet player with connections to all the best (& some little-known) music venues. We are friendly but don't intrude on guests. Friends of Bill W will find a congenial host.

We furnish simple breakfast foods (bread for toast, cold cereal, 1-minute oatmeal, coffee, tea, milk) for each morning of stay.

Guests staying during Carnival or Jazz Fest can have the benefit of our expertise on New Orleans culture and music (if wanted).
