Our trip to San Pablo during the holidays was unplanned so most popular lodgings we looked at were fully-booked. I found Zacona, but there were only a few review so I took the chance. Jeffrey was quick to reply even if I messaged late at night. He was in the US and he immediately accepted our booking without any fuss. He gave Emma's number which I contacted the next day on our way to the resort. We followed Waze, but while in Maharlika hi-way, it led us to enter a long narrow path with a dead end. It's a one-way alley with ricefield on the right. Ask when in doubt. Better to stay in the main highway, cue to turn is Shakeys. We found the place after that Waze glitch, and met Emma who showed us the way. It was rainy so the path is a bit muddy. No formal check in, which is good, coz we wanted to rest. The resort is charming, not too big but spacious enough to roam. Room is spacious enough for our family of five, nothing fancy but clean, which is all we needed. Bathroom is huge and clean, too, has a working hot shower, bidet and double sink (though the other faucet in the other sink, didn't work, but that's ok). Pool is large and clean but cold for December weather but we manage to take a dip. Fresh air and good mountain view at the back of the resort was refreshing. Staff are nice, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast is a pleasant surprise. We learned that the resort has been under the new management for only a year so there are still lots of room for improvement, but already very promising. Unfortunate that when we arrived, karaoke was blasting from a group of day trippers and there was also a party the next day for another karaoke group. It's a Filipino thing, I know, so we just went out during the day and went back during the night when everything is quiet. But I'd say given the right marketing focus, policies, resort rules and regulations, it can be a great San Pablo destination. We will recommend to visit and hope will be back when we are in San Pablo again.

My sister-in-law and her husband manage our resort in the Philippines. If you're into nature, photography, culture - this is the place to be. San Pablo is also known for having the best Tilapia in the Philippines. They can also book excursions for you. My wife and I bought this place to eventually retire to.
