A gracious home in the heart of Sutter Creek--just half a block from Main Street's celebrated tasting rooms, music venues and shops. Historic charm meets unfussy luxury and modern comfort in this welcoming home snd its private garden.
Our home features a gourmet kitchen (with a six-burner Viking range, two ovens, a pantry stocked with the basics for your enjoyment, dishwasher, large refrigerator and freezer, cooking tools, dishes, stemware, etc), two comfortable and private bedrooms (with a king and a queen bed respectively), a master spa bath and a second bath with shower. Our home also features a classic sunroom which is a special retreat in every season, and can serve as a comfortable additional guest room with a queen futon we will make up with a memory foam topper and luxury linens. In addition, our home has a music room with an upright piano, guitar, gas fireplace, and well-stocked book shelves. In addition we have a full dining room with a small bar (including a separate bar fridge) with room to seat 8. The house has a large open living room adjacent to the music room, and our place is completed by a large laundry room.
Our home is outfitted with central heat and air, fast wifi, a Bluetooth music system and a CD player. We provide fine linens, towels, and bath products, a pantry stocked with basics and a selection of snacks for you to enjoy, along with a bottle of complimentary local wine, soft drinks and Philz coffee. We do NOT have a land-line or a TV. This house is for unplugging and enjoying la dolce vita. The house is a welcoming, comfortable and spacious place. The old fashioned porch and private garden with a its small deck, patio and lawn are just right for socializing or lounging.
Our home sits between Sutter Creek's Main Street and Spanish Street. Despite being in the walkable heart of historic downtown, our home is quiet, and our garden feels like a private oasis. Sutter Creek is perfectly situated for exploring Amador and other foothill region wineries, nearby towns on the Highway 49 corridor, and scenic beauty, fishing (or skiing) at Kirkwood and in the Sierra via an easy drive up Highway 88.

Interaktion mit Gästen
We are on call and ready to assist our guests, without disturbing their time to enjoy our home. We enjoy sharing requested info, recommendations and help with special arrangements. We're also always ready (of course) to provide any support needed during a stay. We use a lock box for keys to give our guests as much flexibility as possible.
Weitere wichtige Infos
Our home has two bedrooms (outfitted with a king and a queen-size bed respectively). In addition we have a beautiful, old fashioned sun room at the back of our home outfitted with a futon. Our housekeeping staff will make the futon into a bed (its comfort is enhanced by a memory foam topper and luxury linens) if you notify us you will require an extra bed. This sunroom has its own door to our back deck and back yard, and its own small heater to take any chill off winter nights and mornings, as well as a ceiling fan to welcome breezes through the screened windows in summer.
We love helping guests connect with all things local. Don't be shy about asking us for recommendations of things to do, or for resources in and around our area. If you are on social media, we post information about our home as well as about local and regional news and events on most social media platforms.
As we note in our check-in info: We have a long driveway to the left of our home, which will accommodate three cars parked in tandem (one behind the other). There is also street parking along the fence just across from our home. We suggest placing one car on the street to avoid being hemmed in by others who may park opposite our drive (we're working with City on getting a 'no parking' sign for that spot). The opening of our drive is narrow so take it slow as you slip between our porch and our neighbor's home. Entering Hayden Alley from our cross street, Spanish Street, (vs Main Street) will make it easier to turn into our drive. It is also much easier to turn (right or left) from Hayden on to Spanish Street when leaving than it is to turn from Hayden onto Main Street.
1. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 11am. Whenever possible we are flexible about these times, but in busy periods early check-in/late check-out may not be possible.
2. Our house is set in a quiet street with many residences. Our neighbors are reasonable people. Please observe respectful quiet hours of 10:00 p.m. - 7:30 am on weekdays and 10:30 p.m. - 9:00 am on weekends. Please don't make a ruckus (i.e.; loud music in the yard or on the porch) that will keep the neighbors from sleeping--or from enjoying their own yards and homes.
3. This is a non-smoking and drug-free property. Smoking inside the house will result in the loss of the security deposit. No illegal drugs are allowed at any time.
4. We love pets, but they are not permitted at Serafina House out of respect for our own family members (and guests) with serious allergies.
5. Maximum Occupancy - Maximum occupancy is six (6) persons. Guests are allowed a maximum of three (3) cars, parked in tandem in our drive. This property is not suitable for large parties or big social events.
6. No daily maid service. Plenty of clean linens and bath towels are provided, but daily maid service is not provided. For stays of 7 nights or longer, we will arrange to have our cleaning service visit at a time that is mutually convenient. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken off site.
7. Our rates include the 10% Sutter Creek hotel tax.
I feel lucky to split my time between Amador County and San Francisco, and I love helping people discover Sutter Creek and our "Gold Country" region.
I crave time to sit on the porch--and both Opal Street House and Serafina House have great old fashioned porches. Opal Street's is even equipped with a swing. It makes me happy to take a break from time plugged into media and work to gather friends / family for a walk on a back road, an informal meal, wading in the creek, or a day of exploring. I love life in SF, but I also love listening to the barn owl who flies over Serafina House at night, picking flowers in our gardens, walking on Spanish Street with my coffee early in the morning as Sutter Creek wakes up, or eating a just-picked nectarine while standing under the trees at Opal Street. Michael's and my best ideas of unfussy luxury, fun, and the kind of welcome we give close friends combine at our family homes in Sutter Creek. Opal Street House and Serafina House have distinct personalities and attributes--but both are houses for la dolce vita.
Friends from Hawaii once told Michael and me that wherever we go we make an Ohana house--a house where extended family gathers--and where everyone who gathers is extended family. We hope you feel that way when you come to stay.
