The apartment was more or less what I was expecting at the price of 15 dollars a night. The Good: - The host's brother Mohammad was always available for any issues that popped up and was very kind and respectful - The price for an entire apartment, despite some of its flaws, was still overall great value. You can't find a good clean apartment for this cheap on Air BnB - Excellent doorman, very helpful. - Safe neighborhood. - Kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, oil, salt, etc. - Good Stop and Shop supermarket a 10 minute walk away. - The apartment was well furnished and I didn't feel like anything was missing. The Bad: - The apartment, though quite clean and well furnished, is in a building that is still under construction. The hallways have no lighting and several floors look like construction sites. If you keep the windows open for too long, dust starts to accumulate everywhere. Moreover, to enter the apartment you have to cross mounds of sand and dust. - The picture of the apartment in the posting is of an empty unused room. In my opinion, the living room should have been in this room because it has the most natural light. I moved some of the furniture from the living room there and would stay in that room the most. Besides this room, the other rooms have no natural light and were gloomy due to the harsh fluorescent lighting. I just needed a place to sleep for the night so this wasn't a huge deal for me, but it might be a deal breaker for some. - The internet was pretty bad. There is a gigabyte limit, which I wish I knew before making a long (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) call. Mohammad, the host's brother, thankfully addressed the issue and bought more internet memory. However, the internet was so bad for the last few days that I had to use my own data. - The posting was a little deceiving because the apartment is not in a centrally located neighborhood. I knew this beforehand because I lived in Cairo for a few years and know how far the Misr al-Qadima neighborhood is from downtown, but newcomers to Cairo should know this. Public Transport to downtown takes about 30-40 minutes (I'm defining downtown as the Gamal abd al-Nasar station). - The neighborhood itself is quite boring and there's not a lot to see there except the new Egyptian Civilization Museum and the Old Cairo churches. Most stores close quite early, and there are almost no dining options. Additionally, the neighborhood is quite dirty with trash and dust everywhere. Again, I've lived in Cairo for a few years so this was not a problem for me, but newcomers who prefer cleaner neighborhoods should look elsewhere. I knew what I was getting into with the price and location so I won't deduct points from my review for this. Overall, I would recommend this apartment highly for two kinds of people:...

The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Pros: Close to the metro (though not close enough to walk). Plenty of space in apartment. Moderately clean (with the exception of some sand sand dust). Small local shops/ market within walking distance. Host checked in with us when I was able to get wifi at a restaurant. Cons: No internet (was relying on it to contact host and look up things to do) or TV. The apartment is in a building that is still under heavy construction. No AC. Children's sheets used for beds. Third bed wasn't really a bed but some kind of semi-hard cushion with sheets.

Sabry and his family did an excellent job of receiving me- his mother was able to meet me early even though she was coming from Mansoura, and she showed me to the place which is located in a newer residential area- she was also easy to reach by telephone and came quite a ways to help me find the place. There is good food and a couple of mosques at the nearest intersection. The aprtment itself is very nice and has everything you might need and more, including hot water and a washing machine. With the heater it was quite comfortable in the cool winter weather. Sabry is also very flexible and amicable and ready to help with any issues guests might have. Overall a very good experience.

Sabry is a very nice and helpful man, We have chatted ever since i have booked his apartment before i went in it and we clicked strait away, The apartment is very centrally located neat the Museum of Egyptian civilisation, its very easy to get to the metro, just 5 minutes with a taxi and you arrive in Mar girgis metro station, and from there you will have access to all of Cairo the Flat itself is a very Basic Flat, with one bedroom, and bathroom and a kitchen to, with washing machine in the bathroom, and also a flat screen TV, which is very comfortable after a day outing, relaxing at home and watch some CNN or BBC, (Thank you Sabry) The Apartment is also Clean and modern to, I will recommend it Hope i will visit soon, I love Cairo and the people are also so helpfull
