At the coffee/tea bar, grab a K-cup or brew your own. Locally roasted by Cherry River Roasters available. Stocked with green, black and herbal teas.

We adhere to AirBnb's Covid safety guidelines. Gig's Place was founded in 2021 with safety in mind. Surfaces are anti-microbial and easy to clean. Furniture surfaces are wipeable and easy to clean also. Cleaning supplies are on hand, including hand sanitizer and wipes.

Grill outdoors and dine on the covered patio. Gas grill and utensils, plus a pan and griddle available.

Plenty of flat lawn space for a game of badminton or chasing fireflies. Turtles and other wildlife may cross your path.

At the fire pit, roast some marshmallows and swap stories about the one that got away. Girl, guy or fish. Your choice. And yes, you can just stargaze too!

The host has a small house (1000 sf) on the property of 3.5 acres. The driveway is shared. Plenty of parking. No worries. You'll have your own space- indoors and out. And space for your boat.

While we're conveniently located near Rt. 19 at Salmon Run, Gig's Place is insulated for temperature and sound. You'll hear some traffic when outside. Keep in mind we are the closest rental and AT the lake, as we are at the end of Salmon Run Road. Access is only a mile away.

Please observe our boundaries and quiet hour. We have three neighbors on our road. We're the only homes on this end of the lake. We have 3.5 acres of field and woods so plenty of room.

IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS AND LAKE:

If you're NEW to Summersville Lake area, Gig's Place is located in the heart of it all right AT the Lake entrance.

There are three lake access points. Two right by us. Our Salmon Run area and the Summersville Lake Marina on the north end. And on the southern end, Battle Run with boat/kayak launches and swimming beach.

Besides walking or biking the one-mile straight stretch right to the Lake from us, there's a few trails off the pavement at Salmon Run.

The Campfire Grill located by Mountain Lake Campground is four minutes away. Putt-putt golf and gift shop open to public. Seasonal, please check if open. The Long Point Trail is past the Grill for a 3.8 mile roundtrip hike. The trail head is near the Summersville Airport entrance.

Summersville Lake Marina is a five-minute drive from us and near the campground, too. Rent pontoon and fishing boats. Plus kayak and paddleboard rentals at Sarge's Dive Shop, along with dive and snorkel gear. Reserve a tour of the lake and a dive charter. Best fresh water deep dives east of the Mississippi! All seasonal.

North of us off Rt. 19, Summersville is a few minutes away. Turn by the Dairy Queen at the stoplight for town proper and for locally-owned favorites. Visit the well-established Fran's Family Restaurant. Breakfast and pizza are faves. Try the new Local restaurant (veggie burgers), and Gad Dam Brewing. Summersville's first craft brewery. Roomy outside seating, plus some eats. There's a story with that name. And a family connection. Ask the owners.

Grocery stores, shops and eateries north of us on Rt. 19 in city limits. Plus Wal-Mart. They sell kayaks and fishing gear. Pay less for gas at Sheetz when you sign up for a discount card. New Starbucks if you need a drive-thru.

Bit more north just outside of town on Rt. 19, find a great bargain at the Route 19 Flea Market and Hen House Antiques. And the Kirkwood Winery and Isaiah Morgan Distillery is a must stop, and taste, for those of imbibing age. Take home some liquid souvenirs.

Drive south of us on Rt. 19 and try a Smores latte at Appalachian Coffee House, less than 4 miles and past Pirates Cove/Hughes Bridge area. Locally roasted Cherry River Coffee. Located by Craft Kings, artisanal food and craft beer.

Take a right onto Rt. 219 W/Lake Road. Tour West Virginia's only lighthouse at Summersville Lake Retreat. They also rent kayaks/canoes if you pick up, plus gift shop. Lunch and ice cream at iconic Fat Eddie's (seasonal). We love the Elvis shake. Dine at Long Point Grill. Snap a pix of post-card perfect Long Point and the Lake at the overlook.

Then stop at the top of Summersville Dam. Your host's Dad and uncle helped build the earthen dam that separates the Gauley River from the lake it creates. Drive over it and then down to the bottom of the hydroelectric dam. This is the Gauley Season put-in for the class V/VI in Sep/Oct.

Spend a day swimming at Battle Run beach area. Launch your boat or kayak. Fish from the pier.

Drive past Battle Run and see another view of the Gauley and learn local history at Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park. Take a picnic. Play some ball.

Head back to Rt. 19 and head south to explore America's newest National Park and Preserve- The New River Gorge. Just 20 minutes away. Raft, hike, climb, zipline, eat, drink and shop. Google for details about the National Park and Fayetteville. Cathedral Cafe is a host fave. Try the sweet potato pancakes!

Gig's Place is the perfect place for your own space when you're meeting up with a larger group in the area. We recommend our friend's AirBnb cabin, The Lake Escape which sleeps 9, in the Battle Run area. Plus nearby campgrounds. Plans underway to add a camper spot at Gig's soon.

Whew! Lots to do here, so pace yourself. Gorgeous in the spring, fall and winter, too. Enjoy your stay!

Please leave no trace behind. Keep the beauty in the beautiful. The wonderful in the wild! West Virginia.
