Our much loved holiday home on Loch Tay is set in Scotland's most spectacular scenery, sited on the Heart 200 Road Trip through Perthshire. We are lucky to have a private shore, where you can sit amidst the rocks and trees, make a campfire or paddle in the loch . Rock Cottage's lounge with log burning stove is an ideal place to return to after taking part in outdoor sporting activities. Our grounds offer play, picnic and water areas. It is a great place to read or relax and watch the wildlife.

Die Unterkunft
A RURAL RETREAT IN HIGHLAND SCOTLAND:
We are pleased to offer visitors the use of our much loved holiday home on Loch Tay with the exception of 30, 31 December 2020 and 1&2 jan 2021. Only 90 minutes from Edinburgh - 120 minutes from Glasgow & set in some of Scotland's most attractive scenery, Rock Cottage enjoys c.1 acre of private grounds, including private shore and spectacular views of Loch Tay & the surrounding hills. Guests are free to roam from the paddock adjacent to the top gate right down to the shore. We have marked our shore with two wooden posts between which guests may feel free to enjoy the natural environment. It is permissible to fish for anything in season except salmon and to swim in the fresh water Loch. If guests choose to make a campfire we ask them to ensure it is put out safely before leaving the shore.

Zugang für Gäste
OUR PRICE INCLUDES:
Fresh bed linen & towels,
Heating, hot water, electricity & logs for the fire,
A welcome pack, (tea, coffee and biscuit)

THE COTTAGE:
Rock Cottage formed one of the original crofts in Fearnan. Its refurbishment has been our passion for the last few years. It is a peaceful, comfortable retreat, enjoyed by four generations of our family. The surrounding area offers numerous opportunities for energetic outdoor activities, whilst the beautiful landscape provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation & reading.
The two generous double bedrooms upstairs enjoy fantastic views of the loch, and are served by a family bathroom. A further WC and shower room downstairs offer flexible facilities for additional guests. The lounge is a cosy living space which is enhanced by a log burning stove.
The large kitchen is a hive of activity when friends and family are around. The dual fuel range cooker, fridge and dishwasher make entertaining a pleasure.
Our sun room has splendid views across Loch Tay to the hills beyond.
The old byre is equipped for indoor activities of table tennis, pool table and darts.

OUR GARDENS:
Set in approximately an acre of land, the grounds offer tranquil sitting areas, lovely views and wilder spaces for younger imaginations. There are plenty of places to sit and watch the wildlife, including a fire grate and sheltered seated area for al fresco dining.
Access is available to our area of the shore of Loch Tay. This area offers an alternative picnic spot, playing in the water and is ideal for an early morning swim.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
Covid Status
We are delighted that the Covid 19 pandemic is controlled sufficiently for us to open Rock Cottage. We are taking great care to prepare for our guests. This means there are a few differences: we have removed food from the cupboards e.g. there is no flour etc. However, we have left your packaged welcome coffee, milk and biscuits, the spice drawer and a variety of vinegar and oils.
We ask that you help us:
Please wash your hands thoroughly and frequently
Wipe surfaces using the antibacterial product provided
Dispose of all tissues and cleaning clothes in the waste bin (please do not flush them down the toilet)
In the byre (games room), we have provided a dustbin and black bags so that you can decant from the kitchen bin, if you wish during your stay. Please remember to tie your refuge sacks and dispose of them in the relevant bins at the top of the drive.
If you have time we would appreciate it if you strip your bed and leave linen and towels next to the washing machine.

Guests should understand access to the loch and adventurous areas of the grounds are at their own risk. They should take sensible precautions to protect themselves.
Please keep vehicles on the hard surface as the grass can be very slippery.

Rock Cottage is in travelling distance of Gleneagles 31 miles, about an hour through beautiful countryside.

Nature Watch
Our garden is shared with a variety of birds. We fill the bird feeders in front of the sunroom ( seed, if you are lucky, in the byre). There are books to help you identify them in the sunroom. The nesting osprey are regular visitors in season. There are several pairs of nesting eagles in the environs but we haven’t seen one in our garden. Similarly, we are told there are capercaillie on Drummond Hill. However, we do have woodpeckers.
At dusk, we often sit awhile without lights. It is a time when deer and pheasants do their people watching, staring at us through the sunroom window. Similarly, the owls hide in the trees that line the walk to the beach.
The red squirrels are particularly active across the enclosed garden when the cob nut trees next to the little glass house bare fruit.
2018- we had a pinemartin running up and down the cherry trees next to the garage.
Sadly, Guy has had to stop bee keeping but we continue to encourage them with our flowers.
2019 - Early in the morning we have seen otters near our shore.
2020 - A guest was with us when he spotted an eagle.
Who knows what else is watching us!!
