Beautifully refurbished 200 year old Grade II listed property with 4 large bedrooms and parking for 2 cars. There’s a large living area with TV and comfy sofas, a fully equipped kitchen and separate dining room. It is situated on a fairly steep hill in the conservation area just 200 metres from Maldon’s excellent High Street. The nearby river, Promenade and Parks offer attractions and events for all the family. Pubs, bars, shops, cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance.

Die Unterkunft
The front door opens straight into the spacious lounge with comfortable seating for 6. A woodburner is laid and ready to be lit. A fully equipped kitchen leads off from here.
A supply of breakfast tea, instant coffee, sugar, milk and bread is ready to welcome you. We also leave some samples of Tiptree preserves to enjoy with your breakfast.
Through the kitchen is a spacious hallway with a full length mirror and coathooks. 2 steps lead up to bedroom 4 and the dining room, with a walnut dining table with 6 chairs. The washer/drier is to be found in one of the cupboards complete with plenty of non biological laundry liquids and fabric conditioner for your use.
Up a fairly steep flight of stairs are the bedrooms 1, 2 & 3, family bathroom and shower room. Bedroom 1 is a double with a queen size bed. Bedroom 2 looks out onto Cromwell Hill and Market Hill with views of the character properties and a small well-kept green opposite. This room is very spacious with twin beds and a reclining armchair. Bedroom 3 is accessed through bedroom 2, but privacy is maintained with a floor to ceiling voile curtain which can be left open or closed. Bedroom 3 shares a ,bathroom with bedroom 1, using Jack and Jill doors. There is a family shower room on this floor also. See floor plan for clarification.

There is no outdoor space but there is a small green over the road.

PARKING: NB. There are two designated and clearly marked spaces in a carpark just 50 metres from the house. However PLEASE NOTE that if a vehicle is longer or wider than an average car e.g. a people carrier or transit van, it must be parked across the 2 spaces and therefore we can accommodate just the one vehicle.

The guest areas above are fully self contained. There is also a private basement which is blocked off from the guest area, which is accessed by the owners via a side door. This area will rarely be accessed and only during the day.

The High Street is only a 2-3 minute stroll up the fairly steep Market Hill or Cromwell Hill. The Red House faces onto Market Hill and there can be some traffic noise during busy periods.

The Red House is in a residential neighbourhood in the Conservation Area, around 200 metres from Maldon's High Street. There are many independent shops and outlets including 2 micropubs as well as well-known retailers and multiple cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a Tesco Extra, Aldi and Lidl just down the hill and M&S Food in the High Street. Despite Essex being a very flat county, the property sits on a short but steep hill. Maldon is a coastal town and there are waterways as well as the tidal Blackwater estuary. The Hythe Quay is home to several Thames barges. The Promenade and large park alongside is famous for family attractions including a model boating lake, childrens' play park and seasonal Splash Park. Several cafes supply ice creams, coffees and snacks year round. There is a Parkrun every Saturday morning. Nearby there is a large leisure centre with pool and flume. Note that these may have restricted opening hours during COVID-19 restrictions.
