I would NOT RECOMMEND renting to Matt or his family members. Please read below. A claim is being filed with AirBnB and pictures were taken of the unit condition to verify the damage done to the apartment by the occupants.
Matt's guests had a total disregard and lack of respect for the apartment. They hid damage to unit contents (items still being discovered weeks later), ruined towels, used face cloths to clean grease in the kitchen, left piles of lose felafel bread in the freeze and other perishables in salad bowls in the fridge, rearranged furniture and didn't bother to replace it to the original set up, one of the teenagers applied make up in bed and ruined several bed sheets, chocolate and other candy wrappers were dumped on the floor in my daughter's room, used nasal tissues was left discarded throughout the unit just to name a few of the long list of problems these people left in their wake. They also left windows and doors open while not in the apartment even though there is clear access to the patio. Fortunately nothing was stolen. It took 8 hours to clean the mess they left behind. None of the sheets were laundered as Matt claims, garbage was left behind including days worth of women's sanitary napkins which wasn''t disposed of properly but just thrown away in the bathroom trash cans. These people even used baking trays to cook some form of greasy foods and placed them back in the stove warming tray without washing them. These people had a complete lack of respect for the property and I don't believe they understand how AirBnB works as it seemed they treated the unit as they saw fit and expected the rental rate and the minimal cleaning fee to cover their behavior, mess and damage. When I tried to explain the damage and situation to Matt he said, "well isn't that what the cleaning fee is for?" As far as space for the people's cloths, sections of closet were cleared and complete dressers were emptied for their use. Half way through the rental I visited the apartment and noticed they elected not to use any of this space provided. I also mentioned to Matt the mess I witness at the time and he said he would speak to them. Obviously there was no change in behavior. As mentioned, I have forward this to AirBnB to open an insurance claim for the damages and extra cost incurred. I regret authorizing the rental to these people.
