The ELM House is a "Green Building" with a large Solar array. Built in 2016 by owner and Amish people. Old poplar rafters, doors, a staircase from a previous 1860 farm house, were renovated and reused inside, creating a rustic interior with a warm and earthy ambience. The two guest rooms are on second floor. Both spacious, very comfortable, with great farm views and attractive bathroom. The Elm House is situated 20 min. from Bardstown, 65 min. south of Louisville and 45 min. west of Lexington.

Die Unterkunft
Guests will use the main entrance and enter a large lounge. The 1880 staircase has two hand rails and prefers less heavy suitcases. It'll take you to the second floor where your room is situated. Your room has a refrigerator, a small coffee maker and WiFi. Your room can be locked from inside, but not from out-side. Each bedroom has an Amish built Cherry bed with a great mattress. A long cat-walk connects the WEST and EAST bedrooms and views the Great Room below.

Zugang für Gäste
Guests will use the second floor including a unique Tea-kitchen where you can get ice-cubes, use a small microwave and make tea!
The rest of the house is private.
Outside, the guests are welcome to use a covered corner porch, shared with the owners dog, or to sit at a fire pit or at the old Elm trunk. Guests can take walks too in the neighbor hood to a historic beautiful creek, or cemetery. Lincoln Homestead State park is 3 miles away. Guests are also welcome to visit the old Horse-pole barn and meet the horses.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
Common phone GPS systems do not plot the address correctly! The ELM House, 647 Beechland Road, or Highway 438 WEST is less than half a mile off the Triple 5 Highway! Most GPS systems take people to The Lincoln Homestead State-park, 4 miles west of this destination. IF so, drive EAST on Hwy 438/Beechland Road and go approx 4 miles. The ELM House sits on a top on your right hand after you crossed a creek.

The farm has Beef cattle and horses. Guests may have access to the farm following an introduction to farm rules.

Born in Denmark. Traveled and worked in Europe and the Far East - as a Dairy Scientist and consultant. Have lived in the US since 1996 and became a farmer. Raised beef cattle for 10 years. Presently enjoying the Kentucky farm, the nature and my horses. Other hobbies are wood working. Built The ELM House in 2016 according to my own drawings. Three great Amish people built the house, which is a green building with a large solar array. It contains rafters, doors, and a staircase from a previous 1860 Farm house that I renovated. A 200 years old Red Elm tree, that had just died when we broke ground, was cut and and cured and used for cabinetry and partly for flooring inside the house.
