Maggie and Tom were not a good fit for our Airbnb. There was no acknowledgment of my messages with things to do in Taupo (which Maggie asked if I could do when she made booking, and I took the time to put that together for her), or after checking details were sent. She didn’t acknowledge any of that nor advised any expected time of arrival, which is the common courtesy shown by other guests. When they checked-in, there was no interaction either, no letting us know they had arrived, so communication was non-existent. Our first contact was at 7.30pm, as our children were finishing dinner and preparing for bed. Her husband asked us to keep the noise (diner chairs being moved). We were not doing anything different than we do every night while we have dinner. We reiterated they had chosen to book a room advertised as having “the hussle and bussle of a young family” but, given their complaint, if they wanted to cancel their second night with us, we would accept that. They took our offer and left the next day.
