Hi Maria! Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Thanks also for the 5* rating in cleaning and welcome. I am sad to read your 1-star rating in “overall experience” and “quality”, as it certainly differs from the average ratings that the apartment usually receives in these categories and I can ensure you that I work really hard to keep them up to the highest levels. As already explained, the smell during your stay was probably something punctual, which is not very uncommon in Valencia, when the general pipes of a building are old, it rains, plus there is “levante” wind (warm, east to northeast wind). As said, we were very sorry to hear about the situation and tried to be as supportive as possible. We organized as quick as we could an inspection visit with the architect and the construction company which did the renovation, to check everything the Monday in which you left the apartment (as it was not possible to organize it earlier, due to the weekend), and already informed Airbnb about all measures taken. We accepted to refund you in the way you exactly requested, as we understood that the situation might have created you some inconvenience during your stay. On another side, the Guillem de Castro avenue is a popular and historical avenue with medium traffic level and a bike line that borders the Old Town of Valencia. In the stretch of the apartment, it has even plenty of open space with nice sunny terraces and even a children playground, which many of my guests with children do appreciate and enjoy. The apartment is on a 3rd floor and the brand-new windows are double glazed. I am sorry to hear about your sensibility to noise and that you needed to wear earplugs in the exterior rooms, however this is the first comment that I read from my guests regarding above-average noise. Just wanted to point out these things, as this kind of feedback may lead to confusion to potential guests willing to book my apartment in future. Again, I am deeply sorry that your expectations were not met on this occasion.
