Winter is around the corner! Take in the views from your back deck, enjoy a 1 mile walk to Lake Superior or hike the North Country Trail to many waterfalls, all within a few miles of the cabin. Once snow flies put on your snowshoes (two sets are provided) to see the lake, waterfalls and all the beauty Black River Harbor has to offer. XC and downhill resorts generally open early/mid December. Amazing star gazing and plenty of potential for Northern Lights.
420 Friendly for 21 & up.

Die Unterkunft
This location is any outdoor enthusiasts dream, with an adorable cabin to unwind in after a day taking in nature during any season. This small cabin that is perfect for two and can accommodate four guests when using the pull out couch in the living room. I am situated in the Ottawa National Forest with access to the Black River (and a waterfall!) from my property. There are several waterfalls within walking distance by following national scenic trail, the North Country Trail. Lake Superior and Black River Harbor beach are one mile up the road, truly a local's gem.

There is a bonfire pit that you can use any season, however in the winter you will need to shovel it out if you want to use it. *fire pit may not be used during fire bans. XC ski trails and downhill resorts are all nearby.
(Important note: This cabin operates on a well so be mindful of water use. If 4 guests are staying, you may want to space out showers. There is enough parking for you for 2 vehicles next to your cabin. A 3rd parking space is occupied by my second vehicle, if you plan on bringing a trailer or need extra parking for any reason, I may be able to accommodate but advance notice must be given to me so I can make proper arrangements.

Also, a very rare opportunity exists just a few miles down the road to take an adventure ride to the top of a ski jump for some truly spectacular views, especially in the Fall during leaf change!! (the jump is not open in the winter but still quite a sight to see)

Zugang für Gäste
You are welcome to explore my property, use the bonfire pit (keep fires reasonable and safe and check if there is a burn ban) and there is a small charcoal grill you may use if you want to bring your own charcoal. Please be respectful of the wildlife, nature and the neighbors. ** bonfire pit not accessible in the winter unless you want to dig it out but I do have 2 sets of snowshoes in your cabin for your use!

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
There is no cellphone reception. Some phones can pick up reception 3 miles up the road. I do offer my wifi but it is limited and it does not always work so please download videos/music prior to arrival, or just enjoy the lack of communication with the outside world! :)
I am a pet friendly property as long as they are friendly and not destructive, you will be charged for destructive pets. I do ask that you message me first just so I can be aware of furry friends. I have an indoor/outdoor cat and a very friendly dog who would love to play with other dogs, but can be kept on the other side of my cabin, away from yours if yours does not play well with others :)
There is no freezer in the cabin's mini fridge, if you have frozen items, please bring a cooler for storage, or in the winter items can be left in your vehicle.

Lage

Ironwood, Michigan, Vereinigte Staaten

I own 2 cabins in the woods on 2 acres at Black River Harbor; an area that once thrived as a fishing village is now a mix of secluded cabins occupied by summer seasonal and year round residents. It is rare to see any of the neighbors, but two other cabins are only able to access their entry from my driveway. Your cabin porch gives you a private and secluded view into the woods.

There are 5 waterfalls within 4 miles of the cabin, 1. Just a half mile north up the road towards the lake, 3 just south of the cabin along the road, all have signage on the road. Don't forget to walk or drive to the beach just another mile further up the road to catch a sunset, or to try to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!

The nearest pub and restaurant is 11 miles away and the grocery store a few miles further. The trip to the nearest town of Ironwood takes approximately 30 minutes, there are no stores or gas stations once you leave Ironwood or Bessemer, so make sure to plan accordingly.

The nearest restaurant/bar is the Black River Valley Pub & Grub. I recommend calling before going, a lot of places up here 'close when they close.'

Cold Iron Brewery is a fun spot in town, they are not a restaurant, but are okay with outside food and there is a restaurant right next door. Contrast Coffee is our coffee shop and Northwind Co-op is our local natural market. If you haven't had a pasty, try one! I recommend Joe's Pasty Shop or Rigoni's.

In the winter you can snowshoe right out the door, and some of the best skiing in the U.P. is just 12 miles down the road at Big Powderhorn Mountain or drive to Wakefield to visit Big Snow Resort. There are also 2 great xc ski associations, ABR and Wolverine.
