Nicole did not stay with me, as I did cancel her reservation and for good reasons. In her initial contact with me, after I had already accepted the reservation, she asked for a reduced rate, saying that she and her husband were visiting from Boulder, CO and were on a tight budget. (Note, in her references, they own an Airbnb in Sedona, AZ.) I had never experienced such a request from any of my confirmed guests. I told her that I believe my rate is fair and would not be reducing the rate.
Also, I felt I needed to bring to her attention the fact that I would be collecting Pueblo County, City, and Lodging fees at check-in, as noted in my listing. Nicole then responded that she would have to check with Airbnb because she was not familiar with such additional taxes. At that point, I was very offended, feeling that my honesty and integrity were being questioned, and I could not be comfortable having Nicole as a guest. This was my first time ever cancelling a reservation and I strongly believe I was justified in so doing.
Also, I do not understand this issue being discussed in a public review. I need to take this up with Airbnb.
