A traditional cosy pub is just around the corner as well as the church and children’s play park. Half a mile away is Gelt Woods a scenic area following the course of the River Gelt. Brampton, an historic market town is only two miles away offering a choice of pubs, cafes, shops, bank and Tourist Information Centre. Nearby is Lanercost Priory, (now with a modern tea room) founded circa 1169 by Henry II. 370 years later came the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536, by Henry VIII.
For Nature lovers we have Talkin Tarn Country Park a woodland country park with a 65 acre lake where watersports can be undertaken followed by a leisurely walk around the tarn and coffee in the cafe. You can also fish and hire a range of boats.

Hi, I have lived in Cumbria over 20 years and enjoy the easy access to the outdoors. The area around Hayton is great for hill walking, cycling exploring historical sites like Hadrian's Wall or just walking the dog in the woods.
