We are so happy we decided to take some time to explore Skane country, especially on the island where this amazing cottage is. Per and his wife have found an amazing little corner of Scandinavia to call home. You can tell their little farm and gardens are a labor of love. They have refurbished this property, (they told us they found some markings dated it circa 1776) to perfection, it is a cozy and special retreat. Per and his friendly dog, Matisse, greeted us on our arrival and showed us around the cottage and gardens. The cottage is even better than the pictures show... well appointed (kitchen has everything you need to cook and prepare food) and very clean. Per was kind enough to give us linen as we did not realize that we were supposed to bring our own. The market is a short drive away and we enjoyed the most colorful sunset at the beach near the market when we drove in to pick up a few supplies. We inquired about bike rental on the island, but because we were there off season all the bike rental shops were closed. Per kindly loaned us a couple of his bikes and we had a lovely morning cycling around the nearby farms. Being on the south of the island is like taking a step back in time-windmills and old farms dotting the quiet landscape. If you are looking to get off the beaten track and experience the beauty of the Swedish countryside, do yourself a favor and book into this adorable cottage. Per and his wife were so friendly and even invited us to share a glass of wine with them. We really enjoyed our time with them and appreciated their warm hospitality.
One thing to mention is that there is no wi fi as it is in the country and hard to get on the island. Per offered to let us come in the house if we needed to get on line, but we were happy to unplug for a few days.
We highly recommend this accommodation for couples and families.
