Our Cottage is really luxurious, stylish and welcoming. Log fire, cosy surroundings, great walks, country pub along the lane, with a great menu. The Motor Museum at Sparkford, Yeovilton Museum & Stourhead House and Gardens are nearby, Sherborne is 10 minutes away. Cadbury Court is a few minutes drive, if you are attending parties there. Mainline train services are available from Sherborne and Castle Cary. Our house keeper is sometimes able to babysit, by special arrangement.
The cottage forms part of a Historical Estate. Originally built as a home for the head Nurseryman/Gardener. Behind in the grounds remain all the original glass houses ( private property). It looks like a gingerbread cottage, built of mellow stone, with pretty white decorative fascia boards. Opposite a famous row of cottages called The Crescent, built in a semi circular shape, from local stone.
The sunsets are stunning, bathing the whole cottage in a yellow light through the evening. The linens and bedding are all top quality pure cotton from Yves Delorme & Brinkhaus.

The access to local walks are all on the Ordinance Survey Map, there is an old copy framed on the hall wall in the cottage. Keep dogs on a lead near traffic and livestock. The old glasshouses are on private property, and not accessible. The garden is fenced, there is also a hedge boundary.

Spent many years as a community midwife, embracing water births...Now I live in glorious Somerset, with my husband, several horses, peacocks, and five sheepdogs ( oh, and several hundred sheep!). Together we run Compton Castle Estate, with several beautiful properties for rental. Its idyllic here, the walks are mesmerising, and nature thrives. We farm our land and love it!
