We have the perfect recipe for a relaxing getaway, gardens, mansions, festivals, fresh air and of course, tax-free shopping. Tap into the heartbeat of the HIP city, it's thriving commerce, and performing arts or lose yourself in history and nature. Learn the legacy of the duPont family. Their historical homes are a testament to their wealth and influence, giving you the feel of stepping into a Downton Abbey set. Hagley is where the duPont story began with it's gun powder mill along the banks of the Brandywine. Versailles inspired Nemours has the finest example of Formal French Gardens in North America. Garden and nature lovers can take in the beauty and history of Winterthur, Longwood and Mt. Cuba. Winterthur boasts 90,000 master pieces of American antiques and is host to it's Yuletide Tour and Point to Point Steeplechase in May. No holiday would be complete without a visit to Longwood where 500,000 twinkling lights and decorated trees make it a winter wonderland. Live performances, lectures and workshops are offered year around at this 1000 acre premier display garden.
For history buffs historic New Castle is the town where DE became the first colony to declare it's independence, with more authentic structures than colonial Williamsburg has along it's cobblestone streets.
Amish country with it's horse drawn buggies and rolling bucolic farms is as close as an hour away. Nearby Brandywine and Valley Forge Battlegrounds are where George Washington spent his winters. Antique shops abound for those wanting to bring home a piece of the past.
For the outdoor enthusiast, hike, bike or picnic our many local state parks; White Clay, Bellevue and Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway. Popular with bikers and hikers is the Northern DE Greenway which travels 19 miles through the quiet forested beauty of Northern DE. Brandywine Creek Park embraces nature with 14 miles of trails to explore, bird watch and paint. If you are interested in canoeing or tubing, Wilderness Canoe Trips help get you in the water and pick you up at the end.
Delaware Art Museum offers changing exhibits, talks and classes, featuring the work of native Howard Pyle, the father of American Illustration. Brandywine River Museum is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Andrew Wyeth family. Shuttle to Andy's original PA studio for a tour April-Nov. DE Center for Contemporary arts is a must see for those who relish the unusual.
Our Playhouse on Rodney Square presents 6 national touring "Broadway experiences" each season. The Grand is host to 100 shows / year, opera, ballet, stand up comedy, country and rock. Candlelight is one of the few remaining dinner theaters, combining dinner with equity Broadway shows.
Trendy restaurants, cafes, and pubs are close by. Just down the road is the charming Farm to You serving locally sourced breakfast and lunch daily and BYOB dinners Thur - Sat. Funky Bellefonte Cafe has live music nightly. Chadds Ford Winery weekend events features live music and tastings. The Brandywine Valley Wine Trail offers tasting tours and events from 8 family owned regional premium wineries and you can check out the Craft Beer Guide to Greater Wilm & Brandywine Valley.
Convenient shopping, restaurants, urgent care, pharmacy, Starbucks, Regal Theaters and walking paths are within walking distance in our Town Center. A Retro Fitness, YMCA and Yoga studio are minutes away.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to our home. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, we know you have a variety of AIR B&B's to choose from. We strive to provide you with a room that is clean and comfortable, with friendly and attentive service. Anything worth doing at all is worth doing well. "If the cake isn't good, what worth is the frosting"? Delaware has always been home to Cheryl. Her adventuresome spirit though is quick to lead her off the beaten path. Whenever opportunity arises, she is ready to go. She readily keeps a small bag packed with the bare essentials at all times. Cheryl has always juggled her love for the water with her love for the mountains. As an active member of Fleet 106 for many years, she crewed for HOBIE 16's and 18's in regattas up and down the east coast and on the national circuit. Her love for alpine skiing lead her to becoming a ski coach and instructor for 12 years in Killington, VT. Cheryl is always dishing up some of her fantastic gourmet recipes for her family and friends and eagerly shares her tried and true techniques with anyone willing to share a glass of good wine and stay in the kitchen with her as her sous chef. Her love of fine food and teaching lead her to enrolling in cooking school and eventually teaching and directing her own school, La Chapelle. Cheryl's professional background is in Nursing with a focus in Pediatrics and Home Health Care. She is outgoing, engaging and comfortable with all kinds of people and looks forward to sharing her interests and home with you. Don's passion for music lead him to a career in Music Education. He served in the Delaware National Guard 287th Army Band for 6 years. As an accomplished jazz musician, he was asked to lead the Brandywine Blazer Jazz Band and accompanied them on a good will tour through central Europe. Over the years he has had the privilege of performing in many nationally known big bands, the likes of Bob Crosby, Guy Lombardo and Tex Beneke, the original Glenn Miller Band. Don loves a good conversation, gardening and live theatre. His pride and joy right now is his Aliner travel trailer. You never need to ask him twice if he is ready to take off on his next camping adventure. With mountain bikes onboard and hiking gear packed, he and Cheryl eagerly explore as many state and national parks as they can find to cross off their "Bucket List". We believe that life is about turning the things you really want to do into the things you've done. As you can see, we love living "on the outside". We enjoy sharing our home with others and meeting new people. As lifelong residents of the area, we can provide you with suggestions for "what to see & where to go" while you enjoy your stay in our home. We are happy to recommend local attractions to visit, activities and restaurants in our area.
