On Damariscotta Lake in a quiet and peaceful setting down a long country lane and shielded from motorboat traffic by a small island. The house has an open great room and a large sunporch with wonderful views of the lake. Because of the shallow waterfront, there is an abundance of birds: herons, eagles and loons, even the occasional mink.
The house is next door to the cottage we stay in each summer. We recently renovated the house, opening it up to the view and adding a large deck and planter-box garden for flowers, herbs, salad greens and tomatoes.
The back yard is a nice lawn-perfect for badminton, soccer, etc and the deck is perfect for lounging and reading. The front yard is in transition to a more ecological wildflower mini-meadow.
The water is shallow and from July on, the water has lots of lilies which are gorgeous but some do not like swimming through them to get to the deeper water. It makes for great wildlife watching though. We see herons, loons and eagles regularly.
Zugang für Gäste
We have one canoe and one 2-person kayak dedicated to the house and our cottage canoe could be used as well if we're not out on it already!
We will access the basement occasionally and work on the garden a bit during your stay. We will be quiet and respectful of your privacy.
Interaktion mit Gästen
During the summer we are usually available but occasionally travel. There will always be someone available to help though.

Sorry but no jet skis.
- The deck railing is constructed partially of rope which may not prevent a child from falling from deck to planter box or yard. If you are traveling with babies and toddlers who are mobile but not yet safely navigating the world and understanding the consequences of gravity, this would not the right house for you.
