First, the good. The place is immaculate, and very comfortable. There is a big shower and separate soaking tub, which was more than big enough for my 6'1" frame. The kitchen has all of the usual amenities, including a full sized refrigerator and disposal in the sink. There is a nice stereo and flat screen TV, and the wireless worked well. The bed was comfortable (it's a double or full, not a queen), and everything worked.
It is important to realize that this is a basement space, with no windows - I find having no natural light disconcerting, but you may not. While it is well separated from the rest of the house, you do need to walk through the main house to get to the apartment. Also, one of the dogs is excitable, pretty yappy, and acts threatening at first (she is a small dog, so it isn't too scary, but she does bark and growl every time you come through).
Finally, I think there needs to be more detailed information available about the apartment. She was not there when I checked in, and never explained how the front door mechanism worked. I was locked out one night (it is a key pad entry, but there is a separate mechanism for the deadbolt that was not obvious to me, and which hadn't been engaged before). While she was at home, she was asleep and had her phone turned off, and did not hear my repeated knocking. I was unable to get in. For this inconvenience, she only refunded me $100, which covered the base price for the night but did not even take into consideration the additional fees. I called 5 hotels nearby which were all full, and finally had to sleep in my car.
