My one chance to live in an old farmer's cottage! This has the most character of any AirBnB I've visited. We enjoyed cooking a good meal, one on the barbecue and one inside, and sitting in the kitchen in front of a lovely fire. I've never stayed anywhere like it before but would do so again.
Thick stone walls and small original windows, tilting floors and antique furniture give you the sense that you are visiting your friend's granny in the country. Elena, who greeted us, has no English but is a lovely lady and expert gesticulator. She gave my week's worth of Spanish school a good (and patient) workout, but I think my companions who have no Spanish would have been fine without me.
They've done a nice job of maintaining the old character of the house while keeping everything very clean and adding modern touches for the visitors' comfort - gas and electric heaters, a modern washing machine, gas stove and fridge, plenty of linens, a basket of extras like a hair dryer, new toothbrushes, and hot water bottles.
The location, in a small quiet village, is quite pleasant compared to the crowds in Potes.
Finally, I messed up and left my phone behind and Elena and Christian leapt into action to come up with a solution to get it back to me. I really appreciated their graciousness!
