Relax and rejuvenate away from the world in our beautiful place in paradise that we lovingly call Maiala, place of silence and peace. Nestled in between palm trees, bordering on World Heritage Nightcap National Park, high elevated in the Mount Warning Caldera with breathtaking views, we invite you to have a wonderful time in our comfortable self-sustained home. Be nourished by fresh spring water and feel entertained by the company of curious wallabies and rich native birdlife.
Awaken to the songs of birds, watch the sun rising over the Sphinx Rocks from your bedroom, enjoy breathtaking views over Mount Warning Caldera from a spacious, sun-filled verandah. Watch our resident curious wallabies lounging lazy in the sun or playing with their joeys, be enchanted by the rich bird-life of king parrots, kookaburras, black cockatoos and more. On cold nights enjoy a glass of wine in the luxury of a cozy fire place.
Drink and be nourished from our fresh world heritage spring water with highest quality filtering system and enjoy the independence of a well functioning solar system.
Even though our place is a cozy modern home, it has a touch of a rustic- eco-living. Please note: our toilet is a well functioning composting toilet. No worries, it does not smell!! And btw it has the best views you will have ever experienced from a toilet! :) Our guests love it.
Also, the shower is an outdoor shower. This might sound challenging over the winter months, but trust, it is an experience in itself to be outside surrounded by palm-trees and singing birds while enjoying a hot shower. So immerse yourselves in an eco-living-lifestyle.
Switch off from the world and your worries and let you heart be silent and free. Maiala is a true sanctuary of peace and beauty, where you will feel deeply nurtured. You might never want to leave.
The property is bordering on World Heritage Nightcap National Park and situated close to Mount Warning N.P. and the Border Ranges N.P. with their fantastic walking trails.

I’m living the blessed life of a passionate, self-employed artist. Together with my partner Elfie, we are sharing our gifts and talents through the medium of airbrush body art and photography to bring magic, beauty and joy to festivals and events up and down the East Coast of Australia; If not on a journey, we are creating art through one-on-one painting sessions & photoshoots. Most weekends we are painting at events at the coast (Byron Region).
Maiala is our sanctuary where we get recharged and nourished from our busy life on the road. We live a conscious life, closely connected to nature while respecting and honouring the land and all life around. We are vegetarians and live as much as we can from our land.
We both immigrated from Europe (Switzerland and Germany), a long time ago. Living the life that we do today, independent and free, has been a life-long dream and a journey with persistent work. We are feeling blessed to live the life we do today and it is our pleasure to invite you to experience our paradise sanctuary away from the world and its worries for a while. We trust you will love and honour the land as much as we do.
If you would like to experience the magic of transformation through body art, eg to celebrate your love and capture the magic in a photoshoot, you can book us for a private painting and photography session here at Maiala.
