Punta Palopó is an architectural marvel and the perfect place for a modern family getaway!
We love Punta Palopó and so will you! We are a team of superhosts (led by David Yates) with years of experience that will make sure you have a great time.
A few of the highlights at Punta Palopó:
-3 Volcanoes viewed from every room? Yes please.
-A place to jump into the lake from? Yes please.
-A nice warm Jacuzzi to crawl into afterwards? Yes please.
-A deck to chill in near the water during the day and sunbathe? No doubt.
-A deluxe and fully equipped kitchen? Of course!
-King sized hotel quality beds? Only the best for you! (Beds can be set up to be separate twin beds too)
-Deluxe baths in each of the 4 main bedrooms? Indeed.
-Blackout curtains to sleep in late? Affirmative.
-Peace and quiet? Serenity NOW.
-Knock you out beauty all around the estate? So they say.
-Fruiting trees to pick guavas, nísperos, raspberries, papayas, limes, oranges, tangerines, more papayas, macadamias and several decorative tropical plants? Always something in season in the land of eternal spring.
-Fast Wifi in case you need to connect? Fast enough to watch Netflix in the living room.
- Help in case I need it? Caretaker who lives on site, and our staff on call in case of questions.
We have vetted specialists for every vacation extra you could want from a dedicated cook for one or two or all of your meals, to boatmen who can take you exploring in the most beautiful lake in the world, to having the fridge stocked before you get to the house, airport pickup, shuttle, local guides, etc.
Punta Palopó can be reached by road, located just past the town of San Antonio Palopó, 20 minutes from Panajachel. This side of the lake offers the very best views of the lake and offers them on the most consistent basis. Very best view you say? YES! Because you have all three volcanoes and because you have the sunset in front.
At Punta Palopó, we made sure the views were spectacular for EVERY room in the house, including the kitchen and living rooms. The prevailing winds tend to push the clouds from the south to the north, so the humidity usually follows the wind and does not cloud the view from our side as much as other sites. There have been several days when we have excellent views of the volcanoes while clouds gather over the north side of the lake.
The town of San Antonio itself is small and offers limited services to visitors but offers a unique view into a modern maya lifestyle. It is a short walk from Punta Palopó. The town is known for its beautiful clay pottery which you can see being made and even try your skills at making. Other towns can be reached by boat or road, we will be happy to help you chose to do what fits your tastes and schedule best.
