Hi Elijah, I am sorry you found the premises below your standards. In fact, I cleaned the bathroom myself quite frequently, usually with daily wipe-downs of the sink, including removing long hairs from the drain every day when your (unpaid until requested later) guest was present, and, as long as we're sharing details, removing urine from the top of the toilet seat (yup--not so fun). You are correct, we had not been flushing every time, to save water, as many of us in this area do, and when you complained about it via email, I responded immediately, acknowledged your feelings, and changed the practice right away, to make you more comfortable.
We also absolutely vacuumed every week or two, though I noticed you keeping your shoes on through the living room despite the clearly stated no-shoes rule, even after a friendly reminder email. Perhaps it was the dirt you tracked in that led you think we weren't vacuuming? Seriously--that's why we made the no-shoes rule in the first place, the carpet is a dirt magnet!
Also, I'm not sure which kitchen goods you're referring to. We use a dishwasher, which generally takes care of it. At some point, it appeared to me that you became instantly more withdrawn as a guest, after we discussed politics. So that leads me to wonder if your personal dislike of my views, which I alerted you to before your stay, contributed to your unhappiness. It's too bad--I was looking forward to some more potentially interesting discussions. Like, why money?
