Renovated stone house at an off-the-grid olive finca (smallholding) in southern Catalonia. Breakfast usually includes "fresh from the chicken" eggs, our own olive oil and home-made jam and marmalade.
Els Mussols is a tranquil, out of the way place (we are 7km from the nearest village) in a very beautiful setting. It is not the easiest place to find and we would therefore usually meet guests in the local towns of Xerta or Tortosa. We are getting this abandoned finca back to production, so apart from own olive oil, we have chickens for eggs and donkeys.

Guests have sole use of the casita and shared use of (with the those who live here) the adjoining bathroom with gravity-fed shower, wash basin and compost toilet.
We provide fire wood for the log-burning stove and self-catering facilities can be arranged for visits of four days or longer.

We live in a separate wooden house close by, but we are happy for our home to be your home too. This is where breakfast (and evening meal if required) is served. Additionally we have internet, 'phone and electricity points there.
Els Mussols is an olive smallholding (or finca), abandoned about 50 years ago, near the village of Xerta in southern Tarragona province in Catalonia, Spain. Since the middle of 2007, we have been working hard to get it back into the production of high-quality olive oil, with no herbicides or pesticides used in the process. Els Mussols is Catalan for ‘The Owls’, and here you can hear owls almost nightly.
