Petone pretty much has it all including a Kmart which is quite literally at the end of the street.

Stay in a beautifully restored former Assistant Lighthouse Keeper's cottage with wonderful views over Cook Strait toward the Kaikōura Ranges. It features vintage styling, three bedrooms and a modern kitchen and bathroom. Please note that this Airbnb accommodation is subject to cancellation at any time between January and April due to potential fire season risks. Beautiful quiet "tiny house" garden retreat with mezzanine sleeping loft; very simple but warm and cosy. Carpeted, insulated and double glazed. Sleeps two upstairs on two single mattresses. You need to be agile enough to climb the ladder to the sleeping loft. Own shower and toilet a few metres from the cabin. Heater, kettle, fridge, microwave, toaster and basin in cabin. Wifi. Simple breakfast ingredients and hot drinks provided.
