Diekirch- Luxembourg Beauty at the Gehlen Inn

Nestled in the rolling hills of northeast Iowa in the quiet village of St. Donatus, the Gehlen House offers year-round accommodations for calming getaways and/or family fun. The property is on the National Register of Historical Places. Diekirch is one of six private bedrooms with shared kitchen and living room space. Guests can book single rooms or the whole house. Green pastures and white fences full of graceful horses surround Red Roof Stable Bed and Breakfast. Check in before 4pm and watch as the horses come in the barn for the evening. Sit on the many decks and patios and play a family game as you watch the sunset. At night help Diane check and water horses before roasting marshmallows at the outside firepit or inside at the fireplace. A full country breakfast is served the next day as you watch the horses go back out.

We are a small acreage just 15 minutes from Iowa City, 7 minutes from Solon, and 30 minutes from the Cedar Rapids airport. Our converted barn is at the back of the property, behind the house. There is a separate road leading back to the barn for super convenient parking. It’s rustic, cozy, warm and inviting.

We are within a few miles of everything else that the downtown area of Des Moines has to offer!

Apartment is attached to garage, ground level entrance with no steps so is handicapped accessible. Decor is rustic, full kitchen and loft. Bathroom has a walk in shower. Futon and window seat on ground level and double bed in loft. Washer and dryer provided. Small cabin nearby with bunkbeds and a cot for sleeping. No bath.
