Custom designed and hand-built by the hosts, this backyard cottage is a sanctuary in the city. After a day of exploring nearby beaches, beautiful parks, kayaking the sound or eating your way through the Farmer’s Market, come home and unwind on the private deck. Free street parking! A short walk to lots of restaurants, coffee shops, Whole Foods & Trader Joe’s. Finished in 2016, this new, custom-built studio cottage is tucked away in a private setting. The 400 sq. ft. craftsman style space is thoughtfully designed to incorporate natural daylight through large windows and high pine wood cathedral ceilings. The tasteful, modern craftsman interior creates a cozy home away from home and offers all you need for an overnight or an extended stay. Your fully equipped kitchen offers quartz countertops, a sink with Grohe faucet, petite 4-burner stove with oven, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, Keurig coffee maker (coffee provided!), and everything you need to prepare meals, if you prefer to eat in. You'll sleep comfortably in the queen sized bed with new memory foam mattress and enjoy a full bathroom with a brand new tiled shower/tub. A CB2 Flex Full-size Sleeper Sofa (rated best sleeper sofa by Apartment Therapy) can accommodate another guest. Your cottage is set back from the street in our private backyard, atop our garage (not parked in, and rarely opened), surrounded by trees and a greenbelt behind our house. It is designed to be eco-friendly with SIP panels, LED lighting, heat pump water heater and radiant floor heating. Serene, healthy, and beautiful - and close to everything! It's perfect for out of town guests, vacationers, a staycation, or business travelers. You have the benefit of a completely private space above our detached garage with full 24-hour access, free on-street parking, and a private entrance. There are 12 stairs from the driveway to the cottage, which is a second story unit. Fresh sheets and towels are provided for longer visits, upon request. Privacy is all yours, though we're happy to help you with navigate our neighborhood and Seattle, and provide recommendations if desired. West Seattle is a sought-after neighborhood that is perfect for foodies, shoppers, families, adventurers, outdoor lovers and those visiting the city and the great Pacific Northwest--and only a 10-15 minute drive from downtown! Visit famous Alki Beach & take a walk along Lincoln Park. Walk to one of our many locally owned coffee shops, or pick up some fresh flowers or artisan made goodies on Sundays at the local Farmer's Market. Enjoy one of our many delicious restaurants. The cottage is so walkable! Your cottage is very close to the Metro city bus lines (1-3 blocks depending on what # bus) which provides easy access to hot spots like West Seattle’s own Alki Beach, a sandy Puget Sound beach with a walking/bike path, paddle boarding, canoes, and numerous eateries and coffeehouses, or beautifully wooded Lincoln Park with walking trails and huge native trees. Or zip downtown Seattle (10-15 minutes by car, 20 minutes by bus) to the take in the Waterfront, Pike Place Market, retail shopping, music venues, Seattle Center and the Space Needle, Washington State Convention Center, Starbucks headquarters, Seattle Art Museum and Pioneer Square art galleries, Safeco Field (baseball), CenturyLink Field (football), or a Washington State Ferry and much more. Light rail is also available to and from SeaTac airport with one bus transfer. You can also access Car2Go in Seattle if you have a membership. Street parking is free for Car2Go anywhere in the city. We have plenty of free street parking on our street for a vehicle or rental car. We are eager to welcome you to your cottage and enjoy the benefits of meeting new people from near and far. We are Northwest natives and college sweethearts, who have lived and traveled internationally. Now, we reside in Seattle, working to better our world through a child-focused international relief & development organization, and engineering for energy efficiency of our natural resources. Three of Seattle's best coffee shops, plus over a dozen restaurants, bars, shops and a supermarket are just one block away on Broadway. Beautiful Volunteer Park is a lovely walk people and pups. Gorgeous updated 1902 Dutch Colonial with unique loft-style feel. You have entire main floor with outdoor patio. Perfect for a couple, two couples or single relocating (with lots of storage), or friends/family up to five. Both bedrooms have new queen beds with their own full baths (one with a two-person shower, the other a tub), with Starck low-flow toilets. Beds have locally made high-quality down duvets with allergy protectors on mattresses and pillows and quality soft microfiber sheets. Extra-long couch in living room sleeps a fifth guest. One bedroom has a long couch for an extra guest in-room. Pack-n-play crib for infants/toddlers. Amazing modern, wood and stainless sun-drenched kitchen has Jenn-Aire gas stove, farm sink, stainless built-in fridge and huge oak island. My wife is an amazing French trained cook, so the kitchen is well stocked. Living room has 50" 4K TV with all streaming services and a gas fireplace. Forced-air central heat and AC keeps things just the right temp. Washer/dryer in unit. Coded locks make entry a breeze. Wifi is blazing fast. Great relocation option, business or corporate stays, events or sightseeing, visiting relatives, or checking out the music or sports scene. Light rail goes directly downtown (4 min), stadiums (12 minutes) and the University of Washington (3 min). We know you'll love it here. It has a charming private feel yet access to everything. Private front porch or side patio French door entrances via keyless code. (Just a few steps up for those concerned about stairs). Amazing gourmet kitchen, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher and Asko washer/dryer. Dining room has a table and chairs that can be moved out of the double doors onto a private patio for al fresco dining on gorgeous days. Each bedroom has a private bath. A guest on the living room couch will need access to a bedroom bathroom. Parking available for a car in our driveway or at a pay lot very close by if you vehicle is too large or you have more than two. If you want privacy to focus on business, you won't even know I am nearby. However I am always up for a chat, glass of wine, tasty beer or Seattle's famous coffee if you like to meet the locals. I would love to tell you about the neighborhood, city and what to see or leave you to relax in this amazing location. The hippest, oldest, diverse walk-able neighborhood. Classic 1900s single family houses close to sparkling new apartments. My house is tucked into a quiet corner of this vibrant neighborhood of shops & restaurants. Walk score rated as a Walkers Paradise & Excellent Transit. Capitol Hill station is four blocks away, ride share arrives in minutes at any hour, great nightlife, the best coffee shops in Seattle and all day and late night food & drink. It is all right outside the front door! Walk! The walk score here is near perfect at 98! Light Rail to Airport, Stadiums, Downtown malls and Public Market (Westlake and Pacific Place), Convention Center, Light Rail to the Airport (40 min), Stadiums (12 min), Downtown shopping (5 min) or University of Washington (3 min). Street Car to Pioneer Square, hospitals, or stadiums. Uber: Car Share everywhere. Car2go, ReachNow, ZipCar, Lyft and Uber always nearby in minutes and $5-10 to downtown. My wife and I have a small non-allergenic terrier rescue that we love, but... guests animals are discouraged because of the central location next to busy roads, hardwood floors and allergies of other guests. If you have one, please ask my permission first. Maddy is quiet, but does go nuts when the postman or UPS guy comes to the door.

The ever-changing view of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound from our huge living room windows will provide a beautiful backdrop for your Seattle beach vacation. Cozy up in the living room to catch up with the world on our fast wifi network, stream programs on the smart TV or tune into cable, or sip a glass of wine with your traveling companions. The large dining room table provides a place to share gourmet meals whipped up in the spacious, bright kitchen or on the gas grill. This is a two-bedroom house. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and door that opens onto the patio and hot tub area. The second bedroom has a full-sized bed and serene reading area. The house's one bathroom has a large claw-foot soaking tub with shower. Conveniences: fast WIFI, smart TV with cable and streaming capabilities, washer & dryer, coffee & tea, all bedding, towels, and robes for the hot tub provided. We live nearby and are always available by text, phone, or e-mail, but otherwise respect the privacy of our guests. It is a short walk to Alki Beach, which is one block away, or the local shops and restaurants. Venture slightly further afield to explore downtown or go even further for some wonderful outdoor adventures. Parking: Admittedly difficult. Our garage was built along with the house in 1910 and is very small. On-street parking is not available on our street. If your car can't squeeze into the garage, it might be necessary to park up to a block away. Alternatives: Uber cars and taxis are readily available all over Seattle. Guests can catch a shuttle bus on Alki Ave that will take them directly to the pier where the water taxi departs for downtown Seattle. The regular Metro bus stop is also just about a block from the house.

Fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher and coffee maker included). Cottage is connected to WiFi and features a smart TV with Netflix and Xfinity X1 cable. Unit is heated with electric hydronic concrete floors. Our home is located on the property and shares an outside space along with our St. Bernard, Churchill. We are always available to help our guests with anything they may need. If privacy is what you are looking for we know how to make ourselves scarce. This quiet residential area of northwest Seattle is 15 minutes' walk from the lively streets of downtown Ballard. Test the Seattle lifestyle with a bike ride to Sunset Hill Park and check out amazing views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. Only 1 block from local Metro transit, the #40 which takes you to Fremont, South Lake Union, Downtown southbound and Greenwood and Northgate northbound. 10 blocks to the express Metro bus headed downtown, the D line.
