Oakchester Cottage on Bruny Island

Built in the 1860s by Englishwoman Antoinette Pignon Powle, the cottage is one of Bruny Island’s oldest homes. Originally called Oakchester, locals know it as Mr. Wisby’s Cottage. Antoinette left for the Holy Land and never returned, leaving her neighbor to care for it. Restored inside and out, the cottage has two bedrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs), dining/kitchen, living room, outdoor entertaining space, and bathroom/laundry with walk-in shower and claw-foot bath. Minimum two nights stay.

Misty Ridge Cottage. Cygnet. Tasmania

Misty Ridge Cottage is on its own private pasture overlooking Bruny Island and the forest. Set within 37 acres you have bush walks and peace. Built with timber off the property, restored to a tranquil oasis. The cottage has cathedral ceilings and is spacious, wake up in the morning to the sunrise and the spectacular view over Bruny. Close to restaurants and vineyards of the area including Peppermint Bay Hotel, Mewstone Winery Grandview cheese Only 12 minutes to Cygnet village and 45 to Hobart.

The cottage is set on the riverbanks of Browns River with a very sunny aspect overlooking the Kingston Beach Golf Course with beautiful views of Mount Wellington. When you walk through the front gate you feel a tranquil calmness come over you when you see the river flowing past the garden with ducks and swans paddling in the water.

Located in Flowerpot, my place sits between a heritage apple orchard and an organic vineyard, 40 mins from Hobart. The house is NOT on Bruny Island but 10mins drive away
