Our camp is off road, off grid, on the edge of the BWCA. 2 cabins, sauna, outdoor kitchen pavilion, fire pit, beach and dock on Fall Lake near Ely. 20 minutes to town, 3 million acres of wilderness out the door. Fish, canoe, swim, explore woods and lakes. Spend your time here or use as basecamp for backcountry trips. See deer, eagles, loons, moose, bear, or hear a wolf howl in the distance. LED lanterns, propane cookstoves and refrigeration, get water from lake, or nearby well. Life on the edge.

The Ferny Fern: Off-grid cabin and sauna near G.M.

Enjoy serene North woods seclusion just two and a half miles from Grand Marais! At the end of a foot path you'll find yourself at this charming off-grid cabin set in the forests of the Lake Superior bluff. This quaint cabin is filled with windows bringing views of the surrounding wood. It features a polished/rustic interior complete with well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and wood stove. Fall River access and guests now have access to a new wood-fired sauna and off grid-shower house.

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Directly on the Pincushion Trail System (which links to the Superior Hiking Trail) you'll find endless hiking options right outside your door. The Lena dome is 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais where you can eat at amazing restaurants, hear great live music, enjoy time by Lake Superior, and explore beautifully curated local shops. This cozy cabin provides a perfect getaway and is a gem in all seasons, especially during the fall colors or a blowing winter storm. Timber frame cabin built on a hilltop, on 20 acres of old growth maples. Walls of glass, a screened in porch and a wrap around deck bring the outdoors inside. The ridge top location has spectacular views through the trees - with lake views after the leaves drop. The property also boasts a fantastic wood fired cedar sauna - perfect for rejuvenating.

This cabin was built for family gatherings and a recreational retreat and has been in the family for years. We offer a place to sleep 4 with a pull-out couch, full kitchen, bar area, dining table and a small bathroom with a shower and sink. We also have an outside hydrant to rinse off your equipment or clean your fish and game. Be on the lookout for Moose, Deer, Bear, Fox, Grouse, and many of birds and listen for an occasional Timber Wolf in the night. Trailer parking is onsite.
